The MELEE-HIT & Grenades REMOVE totally the gunplay
When I came to play HALO I expected a game based on solid GUN-PLAY and an FPS but what I find is a “MELEE-SPAM” Simulator a “GRENADE-SPAM” simulator and a game where MICROSOFT helps its players to KILL easily without asking for mechanical skills in return. “Aim-assist close to being aim-bots”, mechanics for “Noobs” who can’t aim and a multiplayer riddled with leavers, trolls and throwers.
In HALO the gameplay is split in three
33% Gunplay
33% melee-hit
33% spam-grenades
So yeah this game is nothing like UNREAL TORNAMENT, QUAKE, APEX, CoD.
I dare to say even OVERWATCH have more gunplay than this. "In halo you’re basically a REINHARD + S76 + With the two ashe dynamites.
I’m very sorry but HALO for me is a disappointment, I expected A lot MORE GUN-PLAY not only 33%…
Pretty much a good thing when a game has a unique game flow which differs from other competitiors like cod etc. Even better when the gameflow and its core elements are liked by the communuty and were developed over generations of halo titles
Shoot and punch. Or shoot, die and throw your last grenade.
Is just would be cool, it the last grenade wouldn’t disappear when you die.
I am not 100% sure if my observations are true, but it seems like the non-existent player collision is a bit weird since it works for grenades? They don’t fly through a teammate or enemy but players can walk through it each other?
I am glad grenades don’t fly through enemies, but the physical laws should also be in effect for spartans? Yes, no?
When you sell HALO as a “First person shooter king of console” and have plans for E-sports events with 50k USD of prizes you cannot “Present this as your product”.
Basically you rewards the “Aim-assist”, the “Melee-hit” the “grenade spam” this is not a mechanical FPS like “unreal tournament” or “quake” it does not even exceed “CoD the FPS for casuals”
HALO fans will stay and play it, but all FPS lovers are not going to stay.
If Microsoft wants HALO to have an acceptable e-sport
1.- You only have to give a grenade to the players when starting
2.- They must reduce the damage of the melee-hit 50% so the player would need 4 hits to kill 1 enemy
3.- They should improve the mobility of the characters that move more right-left, jumping, in the Strafes
4.- They must “Reduce the power of the aim-assist”
And maybe the game would have “hopes” in E-sports and with players who love FPS but not FANS of the franchise.
What are you talking about? There is absolutely no reason to use melee hits or grenades, since they don’t work over half the time. You’re much better shooting, which has a 90-95% hit registration than to use either the 50% hit registration melee or the 30% hit registration grenades. You can even shoot people around walls, which is better than the other 2 options.
How dare this game be able to distinguish itself from other popular FPS. I need homogenized gameplay mechanics so the only difference between the games that I play is the art
Well then you came in expecting the wrong thing. Halo has always ALWAYS been about guns/grenades/melee. That’s just… how the game plays. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. The game isn’t going to change.
Looking like Unreal tournament or Quake is an “Honor” and if HALO followed that path it would be fantastic, in my opinion its E-sport would be brutal and it would have a lot of people since we players love pure FPS
But Halo is taking the overwatch / paladins route which is “Little gunplay” “Paused gameplay” “gunplay interrupted frequently” “Ow Brigitta / reinhard type moba tactics with the melee hit”.
But well good luck to people will stick with the game after of my road bronze to diamond. Im done cuz i really can’t tollerate the grenade spam + melee-hit plus broken aim-assist
Dude in Gold until Platinum 3 the gunplay is greater because the players move carelessly on the map and have little gamesense, so with pure brute force with “aim” you can win
But starting in Platinum 5 & 6 you must face diamonds 1-6 and the games become very strategic, you can no longer win with pure brute force with your “aiming-skills” the grenades and the melee-hit become part of the core. of the game
That is precisely why I am doing this “post” because you need to adapt to the rules of the game and I don’t even tell you how ONYX players play because they travel “very” carefully on the map, it is almost impossible to catch them in a bad position.
Topics like these are good proof that 343 has managed to recruit a lot of players from other communities. Partially a result of BF2042 and CoD Vanguard sucking tho.
Ever heard of MLG? Halo has been a staple of console eSports for years using the same mechanics of gun play, grenades and melee, and it is one of, if not, the best spectator eSports IMO due to the tactics, strats and gun play that the best teams use.
The melee mechanics in Halo Infinite do seem a bit broken at the moment…I shouldn’t be dying instantly and repeatedly from one hit melee from the front with full shields. However, the way to avoid melee engagements is to simply use movement and map control to avoid CQC.
I also agree that the grenades need a blast range or damage nerf…or at the very least an indicator if you’re in blast radius. Numerous times I’ve been healing and thought I was safe but end up dying due to the blast radius of the grenades being a lot wider than I thought. Grenades should knock shields for a one shot headshot kill, so they simply need to narrow the damage radius to fix this.
It’s like in this guy’s head there’s only one kind of FPS XD halo has been a staple of competitive since Halo 2. It’s stood over 20 years with a tried and true methods (With 5 being completely different). People like this style of FPS, if you don’t, that’s fine, it’s not for you I guess. But if you wanna play a Quake, UT or CoD game then go play those. Not every FPS has to be the same. And even CoD and Battlefield have a decent percentage of grenades, don’t be started on CoD having a melee problem in older games. Anyone remember the Commando Perk? XD The 33%s you gave are the golden triangle of Halo and it’s what the fans love, and we want Halo, not some other game with the Halo brand stapled on. Look at Battlefield 2042 and how it’s becomes like CoD or Apex and the fans really~ don’t like it because it just isn’t Battlefield.
