So, after many years most of the issues that plagued the MCC have been solved. It took them quite a while but I think 343 deserves some praise for not giving up on this and eventually make good on its promise, which is more than can be said for most developers.
Now, to the point of the thread:
Considering Halo: Infinite is at least 2 years away from being released… Do you think 343 should and/or will redirect resources to improve Halo 5? The game could certainly use more maps in the rotations, especially in BTB, it’s a little sad every single BTB map was made using forge, and there are still small performance issues that could be polished.
I wouldn’t all bug fixes and UI changes a content update, which is what you’d need for there to be new maps. I’m sure Halo 5 will continue to be supported in terms of fixes and updates to matchmaking (playlist rotations and such), but anything beyond that is done for Halo 5. Halo 5 has been in working order for pretty much it’s entire life, unlike MCC, which is why MCC needed such a major overhaul, but nothing “new” was added to MCC; they just fixed and made better what was already there. Since Halo 5 never had such major issues, it doesn’t need the same treatment that MCC got.

MCC needed that overhaul though while H5 is more of an optional quality of life/long term population sustain issue. For H5, I’d be happy with just two bug fixes as well as map and playlist refreshes.
Bugs: The postgame freezing issue and a player being dropped in the search lobby which is suspected to be related to the freezing issue.
Yeah it’s kind of sad theyve barely updated most of the playlists such as BTB and when they did they would act like it was some big free content update we should be thankful for. Meanwhile Bungie used to change up the maps and gametypes almost every month like it wasn’t a big deal.
No new content for H5, some may be inbound for MCC in the form of custom games browser from what I hear. and other plans as they hinted in the MCC update on waypoint.
I would just like to be able to find a game of BTB without having to wait 20 minutes between matches because the servers are looking for 1 person. A map refresh would be nice as well. There are plenty of quality forge maps out there that are worthy of being put into matchmaking. Isn’t that the point of forge after all?
I don’t think it means any thing for Halo 5. I have been going back and forth between both games for years. MCC will probably see a population increase for a bit but I have a feeling it won’t last all that long. While it’s great to replay the older Halo games it’s their diet versions. Limited playlist with limited maps of each game.

Exactly this.
The freezing is definitely something that should be addressed.
While they’ve said they aren’t updating H5 anymore, I think they’ll still hit bugs and playlist changes - and that’s all we really need.
MCC on the other hand still has a ways to go, and I hope they continue updating it even after the elusive customs browser.

Funny how this Monitor says nothing new was added when the whole gameplay is different from the original games which really annoying. Like seriously I love how 343 keeps on lying to the community. They said they would return the gameplay experience back to the Xbox version and what we get is nothing like what we played back in the past. Like Weapons, Respawns, Animation, Sound, Gameplay, Same maps pop up all the time, and list goes on and on.

Not sure why you’re calling him out for that when it’s clear he was referring to the update that just came out. Unless you’ve been living under a rock or don’t play Halo, most people likely knew what game versions MCC has been using since the game came out.
I’d imagine some people may migrate more to mcc mm. Thats what I’ve done already. I kinda like MCC a bit better as it feels like a better halo game. Halo 5 is just the most mechanically sound halo game, but not having allthe spartan abilities feels incredibly refreshing!!!

What I was saying was that the game is different in every way possible. Now I don’t know about other people that play halo today but alot of the stuff that’s in mcc has been changed in multiple ways if you played the original games you would know what I’m talking about. 343 said that they would return the original Xbox version feel to the game. Yes I’m happy just as much as anyone that I can play mcc without error messages and crashing and the horrible vote system. But what I’m not happy about all the changes they did without letting the community know. Changes in weapon power, reload times, animation time for melee attack for certain weapons, vehicle health, power ups, dual wielding power, respawn system, rockets placement in the campaign, the list goes on and on. So please for sake of everyone don’t say things weren’t change or anything new wasn’t added in without playing the original games first.
At the end of this I just hope 343 actually stays in line of what they said by bringing back the original Xbox gameplay to mcc.
Likely not much as I have not even bothered returning to MCC, though this does have little to do with the game itself and more to do with laziness. Not interested in picking up Halo 5 anytime soon either. Warzone got stale early on, which is unfortunate because at the time, it was the only redeeming part about that game.
