Me and my friends who are either high diamonds or onyx’s or champions would go onto balanced search type and when we would get into the game, we would lose because we were given a terrible, unranked, gold, low diamond that should be platinum, or a level 26-59.
If the system only gave you other champion teammates, then you would rarely ever lose and it would be unfair to the other team. Anyway, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes which are unknown from your post so can’t really help in that regard. The only way to avoid getting bad teammates is to play with a full party.

Don’t I know you? The system probably expected you to lose or expected you to win because you have an Onyx or Champ teammate. Unless you’re playing SWAT. The matching system there is terrible and you might want to run a team of 4.
I agree with a lot of what is being said on both sides here. Here is what’s not being said.
All of the game modes in ranked are team games save for one. The rank system does not work that way. It is for individuals. Hypocrisy.
If you run with a team like I do all the time. If you’re pushing 50 yrs old with a punctured cornea you know that despite the fact that you have won 10 matches with a positive k/d while placing 4th on your team most of the time. That 11th match loss will devastate your rank. Your rank will slowly but surely fall. From plat to gold. The only reason my team insists that I play with them is TACTICS. We will steal a game so fast it will make your head spin.
I know it must be hard work to have a fair ranking that reflects each game mode but… I sweat for a living. Stop making excuses and find people who can.
