Every time I try to play solo I either get matched against full teams, have teammates lag out, or the teams are incredibly unbalanced. Can we please have the option to turn on party restrictions so it can be possible to play solo?

when you are playing with people you don’t know, and the opposing team are all in a group, working well together, and are significantly better than your team, the matchmaking has failed. you should not end up being the best on your team, with a positive K/D and yet still get dropped a rank because the rest of your team are terrible

I will never stop complaining about this. 343 simply sacrificed all matchmaking QUALITY in order to make it as fast as possible (Yet still force us to sit through intermissions so we can review… all 3.5 stats they let us see after a match). I don’t think anyone would care about an extra 30 seconds between games to actually work out a game that was more skill-balanced. I don’t know how they determine when teams are fair in the current algorithm, but even something as simple as calculating a personal CSR for each map/gametype would help tremendously. I’m a much stronger CTF player than I am a pure slayer and so matchmaking should take that into account when making teams. The claim is that they are indeed using TrueSkill for their rankings, but how they use it seems to be so convoluted that I’m not even sure 343 could actually explain it in any meaningful or satisfying way. If 343’s interpretation of TrueSkill can’t figure out balanced teams after a few hundred games worth of data, then I’m confident they never will until they change their system.
All of which is why I basically just jerk around in Breakout for 10 games to get my placement rank and thus the monthly REQ pack, then never play Arena again for the rest of the month.
