The Master Plot (of the Precursors)

I’ve been thinking and thinking and I tried to connect the few hints we had at the LIBRARIAN’s plan.

You know, actually the Librarian seemed to be the caretaker of the galaxy’s living creatures. But I do not believe in her goodness. I think that the Librarian is part, if not member, of the ANCIENT EVIL.

The DIDACT will return in Halo 4. We know that. He will also have at least one fight with the Master Chief and Cortana. We also know this. I guess that HE is also part of the Ancient Evil’s plan.[/color]

I believe the Didact is the vanguard of the Precursors, who was put into that position by the Librarian.

Why did the Librarian take special care over the humans? Why did the Forerunners leave their technology behind and made it that way only the humans could reclaim it?

The Forerunners knew that they couldn’t survive in a galaxy that was wiped of intelligent and sentient life. There was no cure for the Flood in sight. There was no help from someone else in sight. The Flood were created by the Precursors. Precursor technology was based on what the Forerunners called “neural physics”. The Halo Arrays destroyed this neural technology. Flood were created by such neural technology; all creatures created by the Precursors were. The Halos also destroyed the Flood and all other sentient species in the galaxy.

The only possibility for the Forerunners to avoid a total consumption by the Flood was the firing of the seven Halo Rings. And since humanity had been degraded ten thousand years prior to the activation of the Halo Arrays, the only chance of survival was time and sleep.

The Forerunners enclosed themselves into Shield Worlds where they lay dormant for 100 000 years, patiently awaiting the day that humanity would reclaim the false heritage. The Librarian’s plan was perfect: With humanity evolving again and reaching advancement eventually based on Forerunner technology, the Forerunners would just need to stay in cryo until the day that humanity would revive them unintentionally but with horrific consequences. The Forerunners would rise and dominate the galaxy.

What they didn’t know though was that the Didact was a traitor, the vanguard of the Precursors. The Ancient Evil used the Librarian to create a Didact that would be easily manipulated. They set their pawns. And they ensured that only the Didact and the Librarian would hold the keys to victory over the Flood.
The Librarian stayed on Earth and was killed or managed to get into cryo under the planet’s surface. The Didact however survived. He was neither Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting nor the Promethean who had been responsible for the humans’ degradation. This new Didact was corrupted, corrupted by the Librarian herself. The Librarian acted on behalf of a geas implanted by the Precursors. She was unbeknownst of this. Yet, she also implanted a corrupted geas into the Didact, not knowing that it would doom their species.

When the Forerunner-Flood War reached its end, the Flood were helped by someone surprising (as stated in the summary of Halo: Silentium). This person was no one else but the Didact himself. The Flood could not be destroyed. They were imprisoned, e.g. on the Halo Installations. The Didact and the Librarian put their people into cryo sleep. The Didact activated the Halo Arrays. The Librarian disappeared on Earth.

The Precursors did get the time they needed to create a new form of “Flood”, a virus that would infest the galaxy more effectively. It is not a living being like the Flood.

The Librarian was the only one who could stand against that plan but the Precursors managed to get her into a situation that she could not escape. Her false compassion for Humankind would eventually doom her. And her demise on Earth was unavoidable.

With the Librarian gone, the Precursors’ second puppet had to be manipulated in a way that he would no longer support the revival of his race. The Precursors had 100 centuries to infest the Shield World called Requiem with their virus. Their helper was dormantly guarding the new weapon that would assure the Precursors’ victory.

After ten thousands of years, the first “new” human called Reclaimer entered Requiem. The Librarian’s plan was that he would revive the Didact who would then revive the rest of the Forerunners. He was the one who found the weapon that could destroy the galaxy. But he was ignorant of the Precursors’ wrath, of course. They wanted to take revenge. And now, they are succeeding. But one more thing, one more man stands in their way: The Master Chief.

The Covenant is also on Requiem. And they want to use the weapon hidden there. Maybe it’s a fleet, maybe just one huge battlestation, maybe a cannon. Either way, the Chief has to open the Cryptum, he has to revive the Ancient Evil in order to stop the Covenant from retrieving Requiem’s weapon. The Didact finally rises. But he turns against both Covenant and Humans. The Didact activates a portal to all locations in the galaxy and his infested Forerunner fleet spreads. The Master Chief can only follow one enemy, his nemesis. Master Chief joins the Didact to Earth where the latter wants to start the infestation.

The Didact we have known doesn’t exist anymore. He is a corrupted puppet. He is free from the chains of his kind. He believes the humans’ imprisonment is a kindness. Because they claimed the Mantle of Responsibility for themselves and in doing so brought the Flood to the borders of Forerunner space. The Didact’s sentence for Humanity was hard: He composed them and used them as conscripts in his ancilla-based Promethean army. Master Chief and the Didact will have showdown. And Master Chief can defeat the Didact. But the Ancient Evil is not stopped. The Precursors lost their second marionette. But the invasion of the galaxy continues. And the only men standing in their way are the protectors of Earth.

So this is it guys. It’s a bit long. But I have finally come up with something that would make sense. I don’t know if that is the real plan, of course, or if we will ever know the plan. This is no spoiler of the story. It is merely my thoughts on the whole, complex plot. And I hope you enjoy it. If you think I am wrong about things here, just leave a comment. If you already know the real story, don’t spoil me!

So then, just a few weeks to go.

Uh…Didact hates humans.

> Uh…Didact hates humans.

Sounds like you been reading the ‘crptum’ book. One of first things you find out about him in the book.lol

Less that and more I have just had the unfortunate truth of having the entirety of Halo 4 spoiled for me.

Yes, he hates the Humans. Because the Humans are too persistent. Because his wife sacrificed for them.

I just realized that I found a reason for the Didact being “unbound” to the Forerunners. He is just a single vanguard, having NO contact with the puppeteers.

Oh No! :open_mouth: Oh no no no! Then don’t say anymore here. Let’s not spoil it! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I had no intention on it. That is why I only said what already known from the books.

Oh well I hear a lot of people trying to spoil on purpose lately.

Okay, thanks. But in Halo: Cryptum, the former Didact appears more regretting his deeds. In my theory, there is nothing from the former Didact left. That’s a new person, slowly taking over the body.

> Oh well I hear a lot of people trying to spoil on purpose lately

Yes, it’s so unfortunate. I can understand that they want to discuss their new knowledge. But it’s also taking away the suspense for those who haven’t been spoiled yet.

My theory is spoiler-free, I guess. I mean, there is nothing that we haven’t known so far.
