The Mark Series

So, I was wondering “how long was Chief wearing the Mark IV before he got the Mark V armor” and looked this up:

> The suit was issued to SPARTAN-II commandos on November 27th, 2525,[1] and was in service until November 24th, 2551, when it was replaced by the Mark V.
> The [Mark V] was issued to the members of Noble Team on November 24, 2551 and to the remaining SPARTAN-II Commandos on August 29, 2552.[1][2] and was in service until October, 2552, when it was replaced by the Mark VI.

They used the Mark IV for 26 years and the Mark V for less than 1 year?
I know Apple puts out a new phone every year, but for Mjolnir to have researched, devoloped, tested, and released the Mark VI less than a year after the Mark V is pretty crazy.
The only reason I can think for this is that shortly after the Mark V, Mjolnir developed the technology for the self-healing suit that no longer required the need for Spartans to find health packs and rushed it to the soldiers. Thus Chief getting the Mark VI less than a year after getting his V. Also, when he was fitted for the Mark VI, what’s-his-face was yelling at him for the condition of the old suit, “Optics totally fried”, “Viscosity in the gel layer” … so maybe the Mark V wasn’t that durable.

To be fair, there were like three generations of the Mark IV.

The generation the Spartans received in 2525. This is the Halo Wars/FuD variant.

Another generation was issued later on to better combat the Covenant. I personally believe this to be the armor that John’s Halo 4 armor is based off of.

Then a final third generation. I think this is the Mark V-esque variant we’ve seen on the cover of Cole Protocol and in Birth of a Spartan.

So NOBLE gor their hands on Mark V before all others? Interesting. Go NOBLE.

Well, the Mark V the Spartans got in Fall of Reach is technically the second generation of Mark V. It’s identical to the original in every way but it can actually house an AI.

They were shieldless for a while!

The armour in Birth of a Spartan is Carter’s Mark V variant.

EDIT: Sorry I stand corrected, just realised the armour in Birth of a Spartan is a Mark IV prototype almost identical to his Mark V suit.
