The maps are boring

It’s so obvious they just made a bunch of presets then made a couple maps in forge and called it a day.

None of the maps take place anywhere, they’re all just the same generic moonbase/factory thing.

Imagine if when Bungie made Halo 3 they only made Foundry for a map. Then just made 10 variants in forge.

That’s halo 5.

It all feels like a paintball course. Just shapes and walls. There’s no logic or structure to anything. No gravitas to give it a sense of belonging in the Halo Universe. The symmetrical nature of them is kind of a cop out too.

Are you referring to Arena or WZ/BTB maps?

Coliseum is the best map in halo 5 as it feels like a halo map and is located on Genesis which was in the campaign.

Arena I guess. I’m mostly playing Team Slayer. The warzone maps are a little better but they have similar design issues in the actual structures

It’s not quite that bad, but I agree with the premise of your argument… there could be more of a variety in the MP environments.

All of the maps feel like they’re a big square and all feel about the same size…

I agree with you on that. One of the reasons i quit playing. maps became boring. what with limited playlists or game modes and each map feeling like a boxed in square and even the new ones are just re skinned versions of previous H5 maps. None of the maps, arena or warzone make me excited or going awesome such and such map!

When I play team arena and FFA it seems like there’s only about 4 maps, how many do the modes actually have?

Are we talking arena maps or no? If so then you’re looking at it all wrong. If not arena then yes, most of it is forge made.

“just shapes and walls” pretty much any map ever! You’re looking at it wrong. “No logic or structure” how so? “No belonging in the halo universe” again, how so? Hard to give an arguement if you can’t explain on your issue. I’d also like to know how symmetrical maps are a cop out, cuz that’s a big reason I like halo and it’s part of what it’s known for when it comes to competitive play as it fits best.

Boring isn’t the right term…

The maps feel like they lack character because they are all designed to promote constant movement. Every area has multiple ins and outs, making them blend together. This design is intentional as it promotes 343’s focus on competitive gameplay in Halo 5. This fluid motion prevents camping and speeds things up, but it makes the maps feel unanchored. Until Halo 5, maps always had areas where your team could hold up, and that helped the maps have a stronger identity. Halo 5 changed this, and it is one change I would like to see 343 reverse in it’s next installment.

they have no character, they are all factory UNSC boring squares. Halo used to be about crazy interesting, diverse maps in new environments.

Could not agree more with this statement…

If 343 can’t get creative enough to think of decent map designs, get in the best forgers and let them do it!!!

Imagine some of the best forge maps but with the aesthetics and detail to go along with it.

I see a few comments popping up about symmetry. There were quite a few symmetrical maps in previous iterations of Halo before 343 took over so we can’t really complain about that. At this point the maps maybe lacking in number but I think the quality is fine for the most part. They aren’t on par with some COD maps but have they ever been? If there is one map I long for it’s Blood Gulch. Fan favorite.

This is a good idea

Alright guys, 5 years later. Was I right?

Yes, it has always been a grip of mines that most of the maps in mp rotation are mostly forge made maps. I don’t mind em that much but when most of the mp maps are forge maps, its upsetting.
