So after finishing the campaign & watching the terminal vids Ive got a question.
What is the mantle exactly?
A forerunner weapon/construct?
Humanitys inheritance from the forerunner?
Have I missed something, is it explained in the game?
The Mantle was a Forerunner philosophy. While no precise definition of it exists, it is heavily implied that it was the source of both the Forerunners’ “authority” and their apparent duty to preserve the galaxy’s biological diversity. Bridging the social strata between an interstellar Marshall Plan and a religious, but benevolent, stewardship, the Forerunners took responsibility for the protection and cultivation of the species and planetary systems within their domain.

It’s a philosophy, the belief that you are charged with protecting all life in the galaxy. It was believed that this responsibility belonged only to the ‘most evolved’ species, and it would be considered an act of pride for another species to assume the mantle. An analogy could be between law enforcement and vigilantes.

Well technicly it was like a set of rules of how a race of beings should live there lives/rule society and it was created by the PRECURSORS not the forerunners.
