I feel like they tried too hard to balance it while designing the vehicle sandbox. At this point it’s extremely weak and borderline useless. Using a mech is supposed to be fun, not cumbersome. When I’m in a Mantis in this game, it’s almost as if I’d be better off on foot.
Concise list of problems:
- Chaingun’s damage is too low - Missiles have way too much spread - Missiles deal very little damage - Missiles move too slowly - Stomp’s damage and radius are too low - Armor is too weakThe vehicle is almost completely incapable of defending itself against just one enemy, let alone the enemy team. I feel like the chaingun has a little more damage than the assault rifle. And I might as well be shooting confetti rather than those missiles because they seem to do less damage than a grenade. The Mantis is technically at the same tier as a tank. You should be able to dominate the map with one, not be a liability. I’m lucky if I get six kills with it before someone kills me with a DMR or I get boarded. Mechs are supposed to be fun to use lol.
Oh and my experiences with the regular Mantis are mainly on Fracture. I might as well just stay on foot on that map rather than use the Mantis because it takes so long to kill.
How to make it better:
- Increase the damage of the chaingun by 75% - Make the missiles lock on and keep their damage the same - Increase the radius of the stomp - Strengthen its armor or shields - Make it harder to board lol
