The Mantis deserves a buff. For 6 REQ points it’s underpowered, and I think just some slight tweaks could make it 100x better.
Either reduce it to 5 REQ points or make the rockets more effective. Why don’t they bring back the Semi-automatic rockets from the Mantis in Halo 4? The full-auto one isn’t practical and most of the time it’s unneffective.
Not saying the Mantis is trash by all means. I just think it’s not as good compared to a Scorpion or a Banshee that cost the same amount of REQ points.
if you’re wanting a buff, you’re using wrong, sorry.
in the right hands even a simple mantis is a beast,
i’ve encountered countless players who got running riot
or even rampage medals with it.

The only buff the mantis needs is a larger area of effect on the stomp. That gives it more of a defense against being boarded. It is far more mobile than a scorpion and more durable than a banshee so it can do things that they can’t.
The mantis buff is a popular request. Please use the search function to see if your topic exists before posting a new one.
But it on the subject of mantis buffs, I think being able to fire individual rockers and increasing the damage and AoE of the stomp would create a better balance in the manti.
I think the Halo 4 Mantis’ Missile Pod firing mechanism was much better than the new, all-five-at-once dumbfire we have now. I much preferred the charge system because it let you use individual shots on infantry that wouldn’t normally necessitate the use of five rockets. Giving a small damage buff to the Chaingun wouldn’t be amiss either, as I find it takes too many shots to kill infantry and has little impact in vehicle battles; almost all Mantis vs. Whatever fights are decided by how many missiles you land.
The only thing I could see to improve the Mantis is to make the chaingun slightly more effective. If you’re so frustrated with it, just use a Scorpion or Banshee, or wait for a Mantis variation.
Not everything in this game needs to be crazy amazing. Also, as long as you play safe with it, you can rack up some incredibly easy kills. The Mantis is not the type of vehicle you want to rush into a fight, it’s more of a ‘sit back and provide support/defense for your team’ vehicle (in my opinion).
No buff needed.

It does Assault Rifle levels of damage, has no headshot bonus, overheats quickly- which, with all those factors makes the SMG literally 100% more effective at all ranges, is rather easy to kill, can be boarded from the front, has a pathetic stomp, and fires its missiles weak missiles uncontrollably, inaccurately, and as a result the Mantis is a useless pile of garbage for its Rarity and Req level.
If anybody here actually thinks it’s balanced, then I have no clue what to tell them.
But yes, it needs the individual missile fire and lock back, it needs a stronger gun, it needs a little better armor and shields, and it certainly needs a wider AoE stomp… But more than anything?
It needs those damn hover jets that it’s actually supposed to have, if we look at its icon.
The Mantis is the UNSC’s super vehicle. It’s their most advanced ground unit yet, and it should certainly be treated as such. It takes a high Req level to get. It should be feared- not laughed at.
I agree. Overall, I feel the Mantis should act as something of a glass cannon, giving up the armor of other high-level vehicles in exchange for blazing firepower. Defensively, I feel it’d be fine as long as it received the appropriate offensive buffs.
1- Increase AOE of Stomp and speed of the attack (but make the subsequent recovery slow–the stomp should be a quick panic button that can blast away those foolish enough to try to run up close, but a smart player should be able to wait for an opening if the Mantis user does do so)
2- Return single-fire mode on rockets and increase rocket velocity (I don’t personally feel the need for tracking on the rockets)
3- Reduce the overheat rate on the machine gun, increase damage slightly, reduce cooldown time slightly. This is the primary mode of attack for the Mantis–it shouldn’t spend half its time cooling down after spraying a hose of peas at the enemy
I honestly dont know why the Mantis’s Rockets cant shoot individually. Its so dumb how it shoots all 5 rockets at once and they’re not that effective. And the chaingun turret, Jesus Christ, its not even worth it to use. Its so inaccurate and the recticle widens when you keep shooting, making the chaingun suck. The Halo 4 Mantis was so much better, it was like a beast on the battlefield, making it one the most feared vehicles. But now, its not even that intimidating. People see it and instead of running away, they say, “Ooo Mantis, I’m gonna board it!”

I only wish you were correct. If you have any demonstration of how to use it, I’d love to see it.
Whenever I used the Mantis on BTB, I always get Killing Frenzies minimum. Weapons on it are so good. Wouldn’t agree that needs to be buffed. Armor wise it doesn’t need a buff in Arena - but I could see the arguement for Warzone as more people have got Power weapons/vehicles out to get you.
It depends how you use it OP, you cant expect to go in chain guns and rocket mounted guns blazing once you get somewhere and score a killionare, unless you got a Hannibal or an oni but even then, there’s always those players who save active camos just for mantises, if I ever use one, I use it to defend the core in warzone assault since hardly anyone gets to the back without being noticed
