Even with the ONI i feel like the mantis is so easily taken down, makes me not want to pull out a mantis because I could survive longer on a gungoose then a mantis.
And even if I’m being teamshot I shouldn’t be getting taken down the flames in under 30 second when it comes to standard weapons. Laser should be a one hit kill I agree with that but infantry weapons?
From tests that I’ve seen happen, the Mantis armor has the same amount of health as a Warthog(plus the shields). So your best bet is to just play it really safe and make heavy use of the vehicle regen.

It’s a feature that has been in the series since Reach. Your vehicle has its health split into different stages and can start recovering if you’ve taken damage after 6 seconds. Its not a very well known feature though, but it is very real.

The Mantis has Shields, which is probably what you’re thinking of. Vehicle Health has never regenerated in any Halo game, besides Halo Wars.

Yea that’s exactly what he was saying. Health split in 2; shields and health

That’s not “exactly what he was saying”.
He was implying that the base health of a vehicle (separate from energy shielding) is partitioned into multiple segments and a segment can be regenerated if you avoid additional damage for a short period of time.

I realize the Mantis has shields, but vehicles actually can recover health just like spartans. You can even see it happen on Boss Vehicles in Warzone, tested it out on the Banshee Raider the other day, his armor went back up from about 90% to full when his shields started regenerating.

Well then I guess I misinterpreted what he was saying, oh well, I screwed up and got to the right answer
One game on Storm break I decided to use an Oni mantis to help my teammates with Warden eternal but as soon as I came out of the vehicle force field I was instantly boarded and punched to death. Feels bad man.

Bosses are not standard vehicles. They regen health because they are bosses, not because of the vehicle.

I agree with this. If you run out in the open with the Mantis you won’t last long. The best use of the Mantis (that I have seen) is to take people out on the outskirts of the map.
