I really hope it appears in the next flight. I want to see how they balance it out with the other non-power weapons. Based on the campaign footage it looks like it could be a sleek 3 shot kill heavy pistol. Which would make it a pretty solid pickup to trade your Sidekick in for if you can’t get your hands on a more consistent/longer range option like the BR or Commando yet.
I’m certainly hoping to see it in the next flight too! Seems like such a interesting weapon to me.
Seems like it’ll really reward good accuracy, hoping that it feels decent to use on controller, the lower aim assist takes a bit to get used to.
Halo Infinite’s sandbox so far has been really cool. All the weapons in the last flight just felt right. With the exception of the needle being crazy powerful haha.

The needler was perfect, imo. Maybe tuned down a lil or up the spawn time so its a power weapon.
Other than that, ttk could do with a lil change up. Commando and sidekick seem a lil too strong when you’re lucky. Sniper was buggy in the last flight, hopefully everything will feel better/tuned come the next flight!
Also, I’d love to see the mangler. Pew pow.
Mangler, stalker rifle, sentinel beam, scrap canon, turret, energy sword, hydra, disruptor, shock rifle, and the unidentified stun grenade.
A good list of weapons we have not tried yet and I really want to know how some of these work. Particularly the stalker and shock rifles.
I’ll be disappointed if all it ends up being is an upgrade to the sidekick. Map pickups should never be straight upgrades. After saying all the right things regarding sandbox balance prior to the flight, I’m now really concerned about the sandbox Mangler included.

I don’t think it’ll be that black and white. The Mangler will probably have a slower TTK than the Sidekick, but will be more consistent and more capable at mid ranges. So it’s statistically a sidegrade, but the Mangler will probably provide better utility, which is very important for non-power weapons.
Which is why I compare it more to the BR than the Sidekick. It’ll be less flexible than the BR, but will have a faster TTK to make up for it. The Sidekick most directly compares with the AR in Infinite. They basically fill the exact same role, one is a little weaker but requires less skill (AR) while the Sidekick let’s skill shine with a faster TTK.

Given the Sidekick can’t reach its minimum TTK except at point blank range without some good luck with bloom so if the Mangler is anything like you’ve described its just going to be better and even then I wouldn’t even call it a sidegrade so much as a pallet swap. Trading rate of fire for damage doesn’t meaningfully change a weapon’s role on its own. Unless the Mangler has drastically changed from its 2020 incarnation, I find myself very concerned about the sandbox as it honestly just feels like more of the same regarding overlapping weapons
I honestly don’t know how anyone could claim the Sidekick is really a more skill friendly weapon due to its not insignificant bloom. They are both close range oriented weapons with high spread. It might be different regarding the AR if the sidekick didn’t have any pointless bloom, but it would still likely run into problems with the Mangler.

Trading rate of fire and accuracy for damage has a huge impact on a weapon’s role. That’s literally what makes the Commando and BR different from one another.

Scrap cannon? I haven’t heard of that weapon yet.

Scrap Canon concept art Used to be called the ‘gatling mortar’. A Banished turret weapon that I suspect will function similarly to the Forerunner splinter turret from Halo 5.
