The mangler should be swapped to a power weapon in comp

I hate comp, don’t like playing it that said, I realize a balance problem when i see it. In casual the mangler is fun and a fine weapon for its roll. But in Comp where every shot counts every kill or death effects the game it needs a change.

Now I am not going to say nerf it, because it doesn’t need one. What I am going to say is make it a new class of weapon. Power weapon: pistol class.

This class of weapon for now would only have the mangler. but later would have the M6D both are 3 shot kill weapons one for close range with its shoot then punch the other for DMR range sniping.

Power mangler spawns: there is a limit to one on a map generally centrally placed, example on live fire the mangler will always spawn on the left side on a delay with the power up, meaning your team has to pick between it and the power up unless they have map control with a sniper.

To complement it later on another power pistol would be added, where the mangler is a close to mid range weapon the other pistol is a mid to mid-long range

M6D power pistol
TTK: 2 shield, 1 head, 3 body. (2 to destroy the shield then either 1 in head or 3 in body.)
zoom: 1.5x “scope”
Ammo: 6 rounds
quirk: Semi armor percing explosive. does bonus damage to light vehicles (not useful for comp)

This has already been widely criticized by lots of competitive players (including pros) now that doesn’t mean 343i will remove them anytime soon, but I just think they’ll definitely do something about the Mangler issue in Ranked eventually. 343i are typically very slow with updating comp settings (look at how long it took them to remove auto weapons from HCS settings in Halo 5) but they do eventually do the right thing.

Yep, they are slow but they do things right over time.

And while I think outright removing weapons from Comp is a bad idea, I can understand why they did it in 5 even though I have never played halo 5.

Personally I think making it a power weapon would be enough, as it is something that you have to watch for on the map. making it a power weapon allows map control to dictate who gets it, and its spawn time to be balanced out so it isn’t constantly on the field.
