I just wanna say that 343 NAILED this gun. Cool name, looks good, challenging to use, rewarding, and most importantly, fun.
I love it’s fake “BXR” (you don’t actually have to press X) or it’s inverse for a “RXB”.

I actually think the name is bad.
If anything this mauls you more than mangles. And the mauler mangles more than mauls.
I would have accepted a retcon on this one.
Otherwise I love the gun, great fun
They probably wanted to call it the Mauler, it even looks like it (minus the curved blade), but you KNOW it would’ve angered the the Halo 3 crowd.
I feel like they should have called it the skewer and called the Skewer the Impaler.
I think it’s really fun too! The design aesthetic is spot on and it’s fun to use with a 1x shot / melee combo.
Ehhh, Mangler’s not big enough to be called a skewer, which is, by definition, “A long piece of metal used to hold meat together”.
Yeah but impaler just has so much oomph that it’s hard to give that little gun.

Personally I don’t like the weapon it seems like a close range one but instead makes a huge damage even in long range it lethal I don’t know why but almost every weapon makes a lot of damage in long range, the mangler at leat for me would be perfect to use like the Mauler in H3

Yeah, you can use it long range, but the travel speed and the bullet drop makes it very hard to do that.
Thats exactly the issue with almost every weapons in the game ALL OF THEM CAN BE USED IN LONG RANGE, of curse you can use them in short range but it’s pointless and nonsense being wrecked in mid-long distance with the Sidekick or even with the Bulldog (new useless shotgun) all the weapons are unbalanced in terms of effective distance at least IMO
I Absolutely LOVE the mangler, hands down my favorite of the new weapons in infinite. It’s just too bad they paired it with an atrocious crosshair.
