"The Majority" Argument

What majority? Oh the majority that will buy the game, play it for a month at most, return it and then move on to the next game? The majority that will buy any game given that it is new and deemed popular(COD)? The majority that doesn’t care whatsoever about gameplay as long as they can rank up and buy meaningless armor?
So why is the majority being catered to over all of the longtime fans again? For quick sales? News flash, they will buy the game regardless of how it plays just because it has Halo in the title. You don’t need ridiculously unoriginal additions to attract the casual crowd. All you need is a new title and a colorful trailer.

Someone please tell me how the “majority” argument is relevant at all to these new changes given the fact that they seem to enjoy buying the same game year after year?

I’ll tell you. The majority of Halo fans are out there playing Halo. On the forums we have between 100-300 people, not close to Halo’s population.

Why the majority of COD fans of coarse. Look die hard fans will buy the game for campaign one way or the other. Its the COD fan that brings new money to the table, not the Halo fan.

You can’t design a good game for others(“majority”). It’s like trying to paint a painting only other people will enjoy.

In the end, nobody is going to enjoy it.

CoD fans will stick to CoD.
Sorry, but making this game into CoD will not get this game more sales. It will attract some new people, but drive away more old, dedicated fans.

At most

If I am correct the Halo 4 forums at 300 people make up less than 0.0075% of recorded Halo fans.

And what makes you certain that all of those players are absolutely enjoying the game? Most people don’t care enough to make an account on here and give feedback, good or bad. And there are a thousands of Halo fans on countless forums giving their thoughts on things like this.

I don’t buy the game for the campaign. Don’t generalize all the ‘hardcore’ fans.

I buy the game for solid, competitive, intelligently designed multi-player.

Let’s hope 343 can actually provide that - while at the same time possibly providing whatever the casuals from other games want.

Exactly this. If you like the game, you don’t come to the forums to complain about it. People usually only come to the forums for a reason.

The very fact that someone made a thread called “If you don’t like it don’t buy it” completely invalidates your point.

There are people on this forum that like the game. People come to the forums regardless.

I guess all of those people that returned Reach within the first month absolutely loved the game. lol

Nice generalization.

I like Reach, however I still come to the forums to critique it because it could be so much better and I recognize that.

The reason you think that the majority hates that game is because they are the most vocal. All the threads with people saying something good about the game get buried, and complainer rise to the top because people LOVE to get mad (or so it seems).

That made absolutely no sense.

Nah the die hards will still buy it, the casuals will still play and quite. But new money is what you target for. And the COD base is not that loyal. There are just aspects of COD that they are more familiar with and want to stick with, just like the halo base. By moving closer to COD we can pick up some of there Base. aka new money.
