I know there are about 100 Billion Trillion threads like this, but I have yet to see one that focuses on these issues.
The main problems with Halo 4, is not the campaign or multiplayer, it’s the periphereal gamemodes.
Ever since Halo 3 the periphereal game modes (Forge, Theater) have always been lacking. This was expected since it was the first iteration of these gametypes. Yet sequels did not bring the expected change. Halo Reach, while now allowing you to save campaign clips, removes the ability to view films with friends. Forge in Halo Reach did something similar. While offering tons and tons of new options, we see a complete lack of interactive and colorful objects, which completely deprives the community from exceedingly creative maps.
Halo 4 continued this path as well. Theater has been completely degraded. Theater in Spartan Ops, or Campaign could have allowed for awesome Machinimas, and pictures. Forge, while making some new improvements, also fails. A lack of interactive objects, colorful objects, and a fine tune feature diminish this too.
Firefight was not left out either. While complete control for what is to come is awesome, we see the transition of Bullet Sponge Enemies, and Arcade Gameplay instead of Survival Gameplay.
These Peripheral Gamemodes are a large part of what made Halo 3 succesful. Halo 3 became the center of Machinimas, and unadulterated fun with some of the most creative gametypes I have ever seen in a video game.
343i really needs to return to the support of these periphereals. Now, before I stop typing I would like to say that the improvements in Forge are awesome ideas that have allowed me to actually create new gametypes, and recreate old ones. Spartan Ops, while having problems, is an amazing edition to Halo. Myself and others became very happy with each new Episode that came out.
