The Main Problem With Halo 4 (IMO)

I know there are about 100 Billion Trillion threads like this, but I have yet to see one that focuses on these issues.

The main problems with Halo 4, is not the campaign or multiplayer, it’s the periphereal gamemodes.

Ever since Halo 3 the periphereal game modes (Forge, Theater) have always been lacking. This was expected since it was the first iteration of these gametypes. Yet sequels did not bring the expected change. Halo Reach, while now allowing you to save campaign clips, removes the ability to view films with friends. Forge in Halo Reach did something similar. While offering tons and tons of new options, we see a complete lack of interactive and colorful objects, which completely deprives the community from exceedingly creative maps.

Halo 4 continued this path as well. Theater has been completely degraded. Theater in Spartan Ops, or Campaign could have allowed for awesome Machinimas, and pictures. Forge, while making some new improvements, also fails. A lack of interactive objects, colorful objects, and a fine tune feature diminish this too.

Firefight was not left out either. While complete control for what is to come is awesome, we see the transition of Bullet Sponge Enemies, and Arcade Gameplay instead of Survival Gameplay.

These Peripheral Gamemodes are a large part of what made Halo 3 succesful. Halo 3 became the center of Machinimas, and unadulterated fun with some of the most creative gametypes I have ever seen in a video game.

343i really needs to return to the support of these periphereals. Now, before I stop typing I would like to say that the improvements in Forge are awesome ideas that have allowed me to actually create new gametypes, and recreate old ones. Spartan Ops, while having problems, is an amazing edition to Halo. Myself and others became very happy with each new Episode that came out.

I think this is a small part of the problems with Halo 4. You said the main problem is theater and forge i say is all about the online experience. Halo is known for its exceptional online that we used to have…theater and forge are just some cool extras Bungie implement in Halo 3 and i don´t consider that the main problem

They were main reasons Halo 3 was considered a Sucess. Honestly, I wouldn’t have played Halo 3 very long at all if it wasn’t for those modes.

Secondly, don’t forget Halo’s Multiplayer was originally just a tack on, and Bungie had no idea how successfull it would become.

Those are problems, but not anything anybody would quit the game over.

I never said anyone would quit the game overthem.

In any case, to say they are the main problems doesn’t really stick.

Those prblems just make the game not as fun. I agree with the OP on almost if not all of what he said. I myself have made a thread asking why there was no theater in Campaign or Spartan Ops. It’s the little things that count…

They are to me. I would stop playing Halo if these were never improved upon. Look at Halo 4’s MP. Atleast the MP fans are getting the fixes they ask for.

Well bs angel said Theater isn’t improving, so…

oh contrare cobra. Multiplayer may have been the main reason i quit, but forge was definately the icing on the cake.

What really set me off was one day i was making some modifications to a few maps, one i’ve been working on recently, the other i have been working on for quite a while. I was so happy that my map was almost complete, but then the game overwrote my old map, replacing it with another copy of the map i’ve recently been working on. That was pretty much the final straw for me.

So what? Spartan Ops, and Forge are enough to keep me playing.

Not even close

Spartan Ops as it is now? I can’t say I agree. With Forge? Well, Forge Island is good, so I can’t complain there.

Yes.

  1. Boltshot is Op > Bolshot Nerfed

  2. No Death Markers > Death Markers added (poorly implemented)

  3. No Close Quarters Maps > Majestic Map Pack

  4. DMR is overpowered > Works on weapon buffs

  5. Gauss Hog OP > Gauss Hog Nerfed

  6. AC AA is OP > Ac Nerfed

Well, I’m a canon junkie at heart, so the prospect of new information to mull over every week is too enticing. I’m still holding on for Season 2.

You should know I am too. Season 1 had some good ideas…but some of things they pulled left a sour taste. I’m sure you know EXACTLY what that may be.

Other than the problem of the Elite Minor’s having no Shields and acting like children with wooden swords, I don’t see a problem.

Same thing with the Knights acting like idiots. But, Gameplay Dialogue makes up for there lethality.

“0.5% of the hull has been breached!”

“Casualties reported on every deck!”

> Other than the problem of the Elite Minor’s having no Shields and acting like children with wooden swords, I don’t see a problem.

The Halsey problem…

In terms of that, I felt Halsey’s character was one of the few likable characters in Halo 4. She actually feels extremely close to her Reach, and book counterparts. If you mean her arm getting cut off I still fail to see a problem.

I spent most of time in Halo 3 playing Customs. After people got bored of the routine of Matchmaking they’d go have Custom Game lobbies.

Now, there’s no reason to. Like you said everything got downgraded or didn’t improve at all. These are dark times.
