The main loading screen freezes on Xbox One

So I’m pretty sure this is known issue, I’m NOT sure if they are aware of this issue though.

So I’m one those players who stepped away from Xbox/Halo for a very long time and now returning. I heard the news about Halo Reach being added to the Master Chief Collection, I was excited one of the best games in my opinion.

Anyway I installed the update and loaded the game to main screen. You see the new backgroundcwith all the helmets and it tells you to press the Start button to load in… well you get a progress spinning circle and it spins for a bit but stops and freezes. The music still plays in the background but the animation of the background stops moving. And I’ve tried getting past this to get to main menu to play.

I’ve tried all the known trouble shots I know.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled(painful because it’s like a 100 GB game)
I’ve cleared all game data
I’ve hard reset my xbox one to clear the cache

Nothing has worked. What else should I do? Or should I say screw it and walk away again.

I’m having the same but more aggressive. If I press start, I get a loud buzzing noise, everything freezes then it boots me back to the dashboard.

I have contacted support and they haven’t got back to me.
Several people having the same issue, and no voice from 343 on any post yet acknowledging the issue.

Walk away…
Might be fixed one day.

After hanging for several minutes I get a message saying there is a ‘data sync has failed’. I haven’t booted up MCC for quite sometime so maybe that’s the issue here? Anyway it’s lame and 347 need to sort out.

I thought I was the only one with this problem, I’ve tried everything you’ve said in this post aswell! Still no luck at getting on, all I want to do is run through the campaign again on there and I can’t… 343 please fix this as soon as

I’m also having this problem. Just re-installed to try Reach, after a the 343 intro, and an Xbox sync screen, I see a spinner that stops spinning almost immediately. I then wait for ~10 minutes and see “Data Sync Has Failed”. After choosing “OK” (the only option), I’m stuck on an animating background that has no UI. I tried deleting my saved data and reserved space and re-starting, but the same thing happened. Playing on Xbox One X.

Update on this, after trying again about 20 minutes later, it loaded and everything seemed fine. I didn’t do anything else in the meantime, I was trying trying to take photos of the error. Not sure what that’s all about!

I am on an Xbox one x and was having the same issue where it would freeze at the start screen. Occasionally I would get to the game menu but the game would freeze almost instantly. I found that deleting my Xbox live profile then adding it back to my Xbox solved this issue.

I am having same problem with a stuck loading screen on Xbox One S. I reset my xbox but still no improvement.

Finally had progress in loading the game. I had to delete my saved data everywhere. I am pretty new to mcc so oh well not a huge lose for me. When I next loaded into the game it was good to go. Hope this helps everyone out even if just a little.

So this worked for me as well. I was in the same boat as everyone else and can finally load up and play. Here’s a rundown of what I did to try and fix and what ended up working. First I uninstalled my old game (disc copy) from years ago and bought a new one on marketplace ($31 with game pass). Then I completely deleted my profile and resigned in. Try to load the game and it froze immediately still. So then I followed this post and deleted my saved data (on game hit the start button, go to manage game & add-ons, go to saved data). HERES THE IMPORTANT PART: from the saved data screen, I first hit “delete all” but that didn’t work. The game still froze immediately. I went back and only deleted my profile tab instead of deleting all. It asked if I wanted to delete on my Xbox or everywhere. I clicked delete everywhere. Afterwards, I finally got it to load to the main menu. However, I still couldn’t see the everything. So I back out to the home screen (I did not “quit game”) and then immediately went back into the game and I could see everything and could now play. I don’t think you need to buy a new version, I think deleting your saved data everywhere is the fix, but I included everything that I did just in case. I would lead off with deleting saved data first. I hope this helps because I was very frustrated for a while like everyone on here and now I’m finally getting to enjoy the game. Good luck everyone!

Came back when mcc was released with excitment only for it to be a dumpster fire…came back again this december still a dumpster fire. -Yoink- you 343

Some of you guys need to chill out. Seriously. It’s that kind of attitude that gives the halo community a bad rap. IMO the game is now in a great state and really enjoying MCC.

Halo Collection was hanging for me as well after downloading the update (I had the original collection on DVD). It was hanging (the spinner that stopped animating) after pressing the menu button "Press menu button to Start” in the initial main screen after a starting Halo.

Deleting local and cloud data fixed it for me :). You have to highlight your profile save to get the options to delete all local and cloud data.

I was having the issue where it would freeze in the title screen but I deleted the game and re-downloaded it. At first it seemed like it was frozen but after about 5 minutes it worked.

You can remove your profile of your console, then download it and let it synchronize with the cloud… That helps me when this happens…

I am having the exact same problem

This is a massive issue for me, I downloaded and rebrought an XBox just to play this, can someone talk me through deleting from everywhere as I can only seem to download from local storage. Thanks

Saw on another forum a guy let it sit for about 3p minutes when he ran errands and came back and it worked fine. 3 other people said it worked. Trying that right now

Had the same exact issue. I reinstalled and it froze again right away. I left my Xbox alone for about 10 minutes and then it finally loaded everything up. If you have play through or progress just give it time.
