So it seems like the Master Chief has been shoved out of the spotlight in order for Spartan Locke to be seen as the main character in Halo 5: Guardians. The majority of the campaign missions are played from the perspective of Locke/Fireteam Osiris, and you can only acquire the Locke-themed Xbox One console.
What do you think of this transition from Chief to Locke in terms of who the main protagonist is? Do you like it, or not?
Love the voice actor, don’t know about his character as I haven’t played the game yet, but right now he’s blasting rockets away and taking names on H5 Live 
I hated it. I wouldn’t have minded if Locke had the arc and perspective shift the Arbiter had during Halo 2, but since none of that happens, the campaign practically felt like a waste of time to me.
I’ve seen that Master Chief only is played in 3 missions of the campaign.
Locke is the main character lol poor master chief…

how could be possible even think to substitute Chief with Locke??? really!!! halo saga is full of great caracter, jonhson , mendez, keyes , arbiter… but LOCKE??? really?! 3 missions as chief is a shame!! i didn’t even drive a wartog with chief!!!

Chief remains as the main character, or kind of, as the story then runs around him and his actions, but the most playable character is Locke, I don’t hate him but this kind of confuse me, because I also wonder WTH is the main character then? The Guardians? Chief? Halsey? Locke? so many stories in one game make the main topic a little mixed for me.

The thing is that Steve Downs is retiring, he’s already retired from the Chicago DJ job, Frankly I wish 343i would just end it when steve retires. I got into Halo because of the chief. He is the franchise so him leaving from the spotlight or dying means the loss of my endorsement.

Actually he retired earlier this year from his morning radio job that he’s been doing for the last fourteen years added to his forty-four plus years spanning as a DJ. He is still doing classics on Sundays but he is just not working his full time job so he can spend more time with his wife and family. So his future as a VO artist is probably far from over.

Haven’t finished the game yet, but even though you play mostly as Locke I feel like Chief is still the focal point.
