The Loss of the Sangheili

I know Spartans are the main focus of Halo 4 but to eliminate one of he best loved 8 foot stronger-than-Spartan-IIs from player choice I don’t think is a nice thought. It’s like Ripping the soul out of us Elites and tossing it into a walking Artifact. I don’t Wanna be a Reclaimer!

Ara’ uwah mar’ke! Ara’ uwah mor’ke! Ara’ uwah mea Sangheili!
For the blood of our fathers! For he blood of our sons! For the blood of our Sangheili Brothers!

Like Halo: Reach, they’ve been ripped from mainstream match-making. This doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t choose one as your player model for custom games.

Although, I could be wrong. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a new line of playable character models. Hm.

Halo 1 was a new era in video gaming and it was all about Spartans
Halo 4 is a new era in the Halo experience, so by that logic they should get back to their roots and keep their focus on Spartans and hopefully in Halo 5 as in Halo 2, The elites will be replaced by a new class of enemy.

they aren’t stronger than a spartan 2 they aren’t even stronger than spartan 3’s but some like the arbiter and ship masters are equal

If they pull off Halo 4 properly, I’m sure 5 and 6 will have something for the Elite dudes of the community.

I mean, you wouldn’t want to scatter your ressources too much on your first go at developping a game from a high-expectations franchise, right?

Too much hinges on just Spartans working right now.

> they aren’t stronger than a spartan 2 they aren’t even stronger than spartan 3’s but some like the arbiter and ship masters are equal

Actually that’s where your wrong. I’ve tested this. Playing as an elite and hitting someone takes them down a health set(not below the yellow cap) while playing as a spartan drops two bars which are regenned.

They are also Faster, tested both with and without sprint, An elite can overtake and assassinate a spartan.

And while they cannot pick up health packs, they can regen their health fully. All they have to do is hide for a bit.

Um… Elites are not stronger than Spartans.
For example, this.

Im not wrong your talking about reach Im talking about cannon and the actual story. If you want to reference reach then yes you are correct, if you reference the books like I am then I would be correct.

I’ve seen more weapon usage from the Spartans, then actual hand to hand. I also doubt that The Shaw-Fujiwaka drive could have been stopped by a Spartan. It’s a Heavy piece of machinery and the Arbiter stopped it, locked it in place, and slipped out from behind it before it could crush him. The most I’ve seen from that is that Elites aren’t necessarily always smart.

edit: I haven’t read enough of the books to base my opinion off of them.

I abolutely will be very sad if Elites are not playable. I’m very attached to both my Spartan and Elite characters.

I’m glad to see the Barney’s go as a playable character. Time to play as a Spartan again folks…

I too am also sad that elites will not be playable but you will be able to play as another class not a spartan but probable a forrunner or precurser and you know what that means AWESOME SCREENSHOTS WOHO!!!

I wouldnt say elites are neccessarily out of the mutliplayer as a whole. And while I enjoy playing as elites, I’m glad to see the game focus mostly on spartans. I thought the way Elites were added into Reach was nice, we got each classification and different appearances that were in Cannon and it was refreshing to see them be a fierce enemy.

As far as the comparison between Elites vs. Spartans, Spartans are much stronger and more agile. Spartan II’s in general are monsters and very powerful, the Covenant feared them more than anything else. Spartan III’s are also stronger than the majority of Elites, while being on equal ground with others, they lack the power of the Spartan II’s but are known for their incredible speed and reflexes. When it comes to the gameplay and differences between Spartan III’s and Elites in Reach it mostly comes down to balancing them out, while keeping the Elites true to cannon. For instance there armor is more advanced in some ways, the regening automatically without healthpacks for instance, which carries over to the Mark VI Mjolnir as seen in Halo 2-3.

For those who’re saying that there will be elites in customs, there won’t. No elites at all, 343i have said this on NeoGAF and on twitter. You can probably find it in the links thread. I also agree that it’s a great shame they aren’t in, along with dual wielding. Just makes me want to play the game less and less every time I hear news about Halo 4.

Lol, Not to be funny or anything, but the Clip where the Elites and The Arbiter get owned was clearly to glorify the Spartans.

Throughout the entire Halo wars story, the Elites were made to look Pathetic, stupid and weak, out right ridiculous.

The Arbiter didn’t stop it. He was lucky that the drive was slanted at an angle with respect to the wall behind him, otherwise he would have been pulped. That Drive needed the horsepower of an Elephant transport to pull it. There is no way an Elite, or anything the same size as an Elite, could stop its momentum. That is actually quite silly.

I love your original insults you like giving away, care to share more?

Just to be funny I’m going to point out H3

Elites can flip Elephants (So can Spartans, but their armor is power assisted. They aren’t as strong as that normally.)

(now to fully flesh out my commment above)

If you look at the armor itself though, outside of the different mods that elites can add to theirs, it’s not necessarily covering the full length of their bodies, like Spartans. They were bits where they need to be protected most. Which would mean the armor has no other meaning other then for protection. Looking at the diagrams in Halsey’s journal (Yes I got clearance of ONI beforehand. Triple code-word, under strict surveillance, and agents checking in regularly and monitoring communications to make sure classified materiel isn’t being distributed freely.) Spartan’s armor is power assisted. It increases their strength and speed by alot. -IIs could reach up to 60kph at full run, -IIIs can’t, and Elites can go faster then them, which means that they are equal (or close to it) in speed to the Spartan -IIs. Take the Spartans out of Mjolnir, and stick them in a regular marines’ armor. I doubt it would be much of a contest, considering they are weaker without Mjolnir. Hell, The armor itself needs to be especially powerful in the legs because it needs to support the 2-kilo suit itself. -IIIs armor is lighter so it’s mostly the spartan wearing it, and not the armor doing most of the work in keeping said armor upright and moving.
