Some people are speculating that the Light Rifle is going to be an Ordnance Drop. I have to respectfully disagree, because most Powerweapons kill enemies in one hit. But in the e3 demo it took quite a few shots to destroy the Promethean Knight and the fact that it has 15 shots and a high ammo capacity would definatley make this an awesome Primary weapon. I just want to know how 343 can balance it out with the DMR, BR, and Carbine. Any thoughts?
I’ve heard the light rifle can kill in one shot when zoomed in, but I don’t remember where I heard that. So it will most likely be an ordnance drop if this is true.
I think Forerunner weapons should be held to higher standards because of their superior technology. But it is possible that the light rifle may be a primary because there are 14 starting weapons. Doesn’t mean that I agree with it though.
Maybe, but im sure they said at non zoom it fires in a three shot burst, and in zoom at a 1 shot, and thats pretty op for a primary.

Here you go. Proof that the Light rifle is a 3 round burst from the hip and a 1-shot when zoomed in.

Actually that was the forerunner sniper rifle. 
The Light Rifle Cant Be A Primary Its As Strong As A Sniper

I heard that you can switch it between a single shot and a three burst shot. :S
But all of this is probably speculation, we cannot know for sure. We’ll just have to wait until 343i shares more detail on it.

Yes, that’s true. 1 shot while zoomed in, 3 from the “hip” (just like the Halo 2 E3 BR). I don’t see how that’d be overpowered though.

A Knight being taken down in Campaign can not be tied to mm. You also have to think about difficulty level and know that the shots to kill a Knight is probably not the same as a Spartan IV. Campaign weapon function can vary from multiplayer. I remember Ellis saying the Light rifle can kill in one shot in Spartan Ops gameplay. The Knight vaporized the Spartan in one shot.
It’s probably a power weapon.
I think it should be a ordinance weapon. It should be a 3sk with it burst fire from the hip and function like a sniper scoped, I think it would be an interesting weapon that way.

I doubt that’s true.
I think by one shot zoomed they mean fires 1 round and fires a burst when fired from the hip not a one shot kill.
To me if it is Ordnance, then what was the forerunner sniper rifle in Spartan Ops because when I played it, it seemed to be quite bigger than the regular Light rifle.

They might both be ordnance.
This is just me speculating :P. I think the Light Rifle will be Power Weapon, since in the Campaign we got to know it is 3 shot burst without scoping like you other guys have said and if we scope it’s a 1 shot burst. I believe it will be the Forerunner Sniper rifle. Since I think it will be (when scoping) 1 shot to the head to kill on a Spartan. (I think it is so against the Prometheans too.) But if you don’t scope it will not drain shields as fast as scoping to make it harder to no scope with it?

I cant see having 2 forerunner snipers in ordnance but…
Just because it took several shots to kill a prometheon doesn’t mean a spartan can take the same hit, if the Spartan 4’s are as weak as people say they are. plus your dealing with an enemy that is either near the height of a hunter (I think)
