This symbol has appeared many times in the Halo games. Most recently on a halo 4 ingame disc with inscriptions stating that, "The Mantle belongs to those who are most evolved. " In the the Spartan Ops 9 trailer the Librarian can be seen connecting two objects that give out a flash when it is done. If you noticed both halves share the same shape as the center of the formentioned symbol. One of the halves is inverted, but still the same shape. I believe these combined objects in the possession of the Librarian are the Mantle. They also explain the reoccurring halo symbol, and the Halo 4 inscrption the disc! This is pure speculation. However I believe I am on to something. Halsey may recieve the Mantle for Humanity. After all this was the Libraians intention all along.
Good eye. Certainly makes things more interesting.
I thought the mantle was more of an idea that an object
That symbol is on a metal disk inside the Ivanoff station near Gamma Halo. During the campaign on the mission composer in the section where you face 2 hunters. in the white section there are 4 containers…3 are full with artifacts from Gamma Halo and one is empty…the activation index, a targeting sight (thats the way its described) and this symbol you talk about on a metal disk. the log for it says that the science team doesnt know what it means.
The mantle may actually be a physical object! The Didact stated to Chief," You have not yet have the Mantle!"
> I thought the mantle was more of an idea that an object
It can be both, I always assumed it was just the Forerunner’s “religon”, however there could alays be an item to assist them in upholding it…maybe the objet is even thir version of a bible

The disc is also in another loction in campaign, hidden. When you find it the inscription on it can be read. I dont’t remember which level. It’s the level where you activate a few light bridges and elevators while fighting covies. The object can be found in the center of the map in a room.
> I thought the mantle was more of an idea that an object
Yeah, the mantle isn’t a physical object.

I can second this. I believe it’s the second mission, at the end.
I’m curious to see what this object and symbol are, but I remain skeptical that they are the Mantle.
From the way it was always described, I always figured the Mantle was just an ideal, and to reach that ideal you needed to have the ability to take care of the entire galaxy. As humanity stands now, we are on the right path, but I don’t think we can handle the whole galaxy yet. At best, with Infinity we could bash a few heads, but galactic stewardship ain’t something we can do yet. I mean, we still haven’t resolved things with the Sangheili or the outer colonies.
The Mantle may be a philosophy, and a physical piece of technology. Technology that can affect life, evolve it.
That was a key, that could be something more than it is. Cortana? The Mantle? A hotel room key, who knows!
Hopefully, the season finale is going to be the campaign cliffhanger we all wanted.

You are absolutly right! However pssession of the Mantle would change humanity, elevate it. Humanity restored would be capable a of many things. My ideas are speculation. Exciting speculation!

The forerunners weren’t perfect either. One forerunner, I forgot which one (I think it was the Master Builder), tested a halo on the San’Shyuum (looking for that name in the Halo 3 instruction manual brings back old memories
home world.
I sure wish I could show a render of the Forerunner disc from camapign. Can somone help with this. I could add it to the original post.
Here is a concept art of the mantle from halo 4 this also appears on the mission Requiem its the one in the middle. http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/004/6/5/halo_4___mantle_of_responsibility_by_thelvoramee-d5qeiob.jpg
Actually the disc this is a physical representation of the mantle. It’s what it is.
In TRUe REDEMPTION’s thread, “2 NEW PICS OF HALSEY AND THE LIBRARIAN” It shows Jul holding the other half in his hand.

Jul is holding the Red key. Is he given it by Halsey? If so, is Jul going to help Humanity reach the Mantle, in collaboration with Halsey? Will the Sangheili have more of a role with the Mantle than we think?
I’d like to see how Jul ties into this… and why…
EDIT: In the “Keys” photo, you can see the keys in exact detail and their exact shape. It’s definitely the same as the Mantle disc.
You know the mantle isn’t something physical right?
The Didact said: “If you have not tamed even these beasts Reclaimer… then man Has not attained the mantel, your ascendancy may yet be prevented” And by the sounds of that, I reckon that the Didact is referring to a kind of trans-sentient status, not an actually physical object. But I may be wrong.
