What would you give to play that missing chopped off part of Campaign that Bungie had to remove before launch? Would you ever want to see it released as an extra bonus for a future remade version of Halo 2?
I wonder how the level played out, and if it would have been as epic and memorable as the rest of the game had it been released with it. I assume it would have to have been, considering that Bungie didn’t want to remove it from the game in the first place, from what I remember.
Where does this legendary unseen work by Bungie rest now? Does it have it’s own tomb stone?
I thought the cut levels from Halo 2 were just the first level or so in Halo 3?
There were actually quite a few levels cut from Halo 2. The mythical E3 level was completely redone, “Covenant Ship” was turned into the Cairo Station end cutscene, “Forerunner Tank” was deleted and part of it was adapted into Quarantine Zone, and “Forerunner Ship”, the original finale of the game after the third act was cut, was removed entirely and turned into a comic; there was supposed to be a vehicle run through the Dreadnought and everything.
As for the third act, it was supposed to comprise John’s return to Earth, the aftermath of the Delta Halo event as described in Ghosts of Onyx, the Arbiter’s separate return with Miranda and Johnson, the arrival of the Gravemind and High Charity, the final battle with Truth, the climax of the Battle of Earth and the Human-Covenant War, and the opening of the Ark (which was originally supposed to be on Earth). The first 2/3 of Halo 3 is the re-imagined third act of Halo 2. Thanks to Microsoft (and multiplayer), Halo 2 is a shadow of what it could have been.
I would welcome such content with opens arms, the price would definitely vary depending on quality of the content.
I’d pay full price for a Halo 2 remaster with such content inside, but then again i would pay full price for a Halo 2 remaster anyway
I bet the chopped off part is really just Sierra 117-The Storm, which would leave even a bigger cliffhanger than the one we ended up with.
