The Lag Runs DEEP!

I don’t think the lag issues in Halo 5 are solely based on region. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that your region isn’t a factor in the frequency in which you experience lag but it’s definitely not the sole factor in this equation. I have a wired connection with 120-130 download and 12-15 upload, I live on the West Coast in NorCal, and I still experience lag issues, at least once a day.

This post isn’t really meant to complain but merely discuss the lag issues in your area. I think most of the forums are littered with people experiencing lag in other regions (EU, APAC, AUS), but I think the lag runs deep.

Here’s to hoping that the additional REQ pack money goes to new/better/more servers!

I’m Italian. Here, like in lot of zones outside US, 343 has activated region lock in order to make us unable to match with people overseas, like you OP, trying to limitate high latency issues.
The results: better matches most of the time, but often I can find teleporting/lagging/bullet eating people even on EU vs EU matches.
In addition to this now we are also unable to play when we want because of region lock: off peak hours it takes forever to find a game in any playlist (if it does); “Unable to match” messages are spreading around like the Flood on High Charity.

Yeah the lag sucks. Its not a competitive game any more. Everyone raves about weapon balance but I don’t think I ever experience this.

But hasn’t 343 activated the “Hyper Uber Userful” Region Lock with the exact purpose to limit lag?
Are you saying to me that now i’m struggling to find games and i’m forced to play only on weekends or peak hours FOR NOTHING???

WHAT A NEWS

I agree. The weapon balance is so on point but I think it might be certain servers that get bogged down. I’ll play one game where every shot feels quick and smooth, and the next game, it’s completely erratic.

I think I now understand why Pro players have always talked about the difference between online play vs LAN. You can’t hide behind lag on a LAN.

It’s quite difficult to stay competitive with the ever-changing tides of these servers.
