Pointing this out because I’m based in the US, and have a crazy fast connection… and I’d seen multiple posts that the region lock removal was mainly affecting EU players. But I don’t think that’s the case. Had been relatively OK until the last update, but since then, lag been pretty far off the rails. Players warping, shots not registering / enemies turning into bullet sponges, shots registering on you seconds after you “dodged” them, etc… it can get unplayable.
Any other US folks seeing this or know if there’s a fix in the works?
This happens to me a lot during 4v4 matches, oddly enough I never lag in BTB or WZ.
It can get pretty unplayable and matters a lot in close matches. Region lock needs to be reinstated, or remove lag compensation.
This issue alone has me doubting whether In will buy H6
YES! The lag is real. I’m in Los Angeles and have experienced crazy lag the past week or so. This is really affecting me on Team Arena. I haven’t quit games because I don’t want the ban hammer but I’ve had some really bad ones that make it look like I’m trying to lose. I’ve cut my hours of play since this has been ruining my experience. Not knowing if lag is going to wreck a session really sucks.
A couple nights ago I was playing with 3 guys who sounded Irish (playing in Ireland?). My lag cost us a game. I believe this was a region issue. They were yelling at me and telling me to quit and even messaged me after the game. Maybe I should have quit that game but this shouldn’t be happening.
Up here in Canada, since the last drop, the lagging and being kick out of games has been extremely frustrating. I believe that it is the XBOX live servers causing the issues.
Yes it is real OP. It was definitely the region lock lift that is causing the lag but isn’t it fantastic we can match with people from south America now. Wish they would put it back on I can guarantee I can find enough people in my region to match.
Well, a relief to hear I’m not the only one at least. I would consider this issue a showstopper - it ruins the MP experience completely - and would love for it to get immediate attention from the devs. But I don’t know whether to expect that it will, or if there will be any formal communication addressing it.
It just depends on which servers your being connected to. I’m in California and when I here Spanish speaking players I know the game is going to be “Yoinked”. It happens almost every time. Screen freeze, No hits… etc. Then some games I don’t hear anyone.talking are normal. It’s playing russian roulette whether you get a playable game or not. Lose…Lose…Lose mostly. And then there’s the JIP games… "Well that’s another story…! "
It’s just laughable in the EU not USA but it’s same issue over 4000 comments on the European thread still no reply from 343. You guys really need to step up and support it. Because their won’t listen to us. If the USA market kick up anuff fuss maybe it may finally twist their arm to address it. Otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it too much because the rest of the world are tired of this -Yoink-, and won’t be holding on to the hope of a fix for much longer.
Than you’ll only have to worry about east coast or west the rest will be obsolete.
On a side note I have played all halos from halo 2 upwards with worse Internet that I have now and still played with USA fireteams and never really noticed the lag this bad maybe I’d get beat on the 4th headshot if it was even or I lost head up beat downs that’s it. It leads me to believe the hit reg compensation is just bad and the net code is terrible, and they rushed to release the game and now don’t know how to fix it. That or the servers are a disaster and again can’t let the public know.
Otherwise why lose $$$ of customers and just choose to not reply?
I’m having this issue too. I have a gigabit connection and have not had any problems prior to this most recent update. Now it seems like every match is super laggy.
Yet ppl can make money professionally online with an unfair advantage because of where they live? All other halos OK one guys host. Now we have bullet sponge teams. When will Canada get a server for halo/gaming. I don’t know how u can justify giving money to ppl because of location?
