The lack of maps for smaller team games

… is downright embarrassing 343. If you enjoy Infinity Slayer, CTF, and Oddball, prepare to play the same 3-4 maps over and over and over again. And when you have so few maps, you get days where it seems as if you’re playing the same two maps back and forth. Actually the past few days all I’ve seem to play is Adrift and Ragnorak. If I switch over to Infinity Slayer instead of CTF it’s Haven, Haven, and some more Haven.

I like this game, I really do, but the lack of map variety is killing me. I know I can play other modes, but I’m not a fan of the big team games in Halo. Does that mean I should be condemned to playing the same few maps every single night? We need some map packs ASAP. As obnoxious as it is that I would have to pay extra just to have a decent rotation of maps, I enjoy the game enough that I would do so. Get on it ASAP 343, or god forbid I’m going to buy BO2 and play that instead. Hell, maybe I’ll just go back to Gears where I KNOW map repition is never an issue.

I wish the community would make up there mind. In reach we had forge variants day one and the community hated it. So 343 decided to not have forge variants right away and people are raging. Side note the first map pack is in december. I have been playing since launch night and im still not bored with anything. Maybe its a sign for you to take a break.

A ‘community’ will never make up it’s mind because a community consists of a large group of people who all have differing opinions.

CoD, Gears, etc. do not rely on the community to make maps for their consumers. And with the ability to remake old maps and take areas from the campaign, there is no excuse for them not having more from the get go. They could even have released smaller versions of the big maps so that they would work in smaller team games. The last bit may not be as feasible as the others, but either way there is no excuse for the lack of maps in this game right now. Hopefully the upcoming map back aleviates the problem, but assuming some of the new maps are designed for big team games only, I don’t have my hopes up that it’ll be fixed very soon.

The most famous Halo maps are small maps with clean sight lines. Lockout, Damnation, Midship, Pit, Warlock, Beaver Creek, Prisoner, Sanctuary, ect… there is NO such map in H4 that is in the likeness of these small maps made for 2v2/4v4.

They are too big, too cluttered LOS, lack of power weapons/power positions and dynamic spawns just compounds the problem of map control/set-ups being useless. 343 map designers need to look at what made Halo great, SIMPLICITY and BALANCED GAMEPLAY. I dont want to play a Halo map where there is 20 hiding spots and I cant shoot cross map or dictate any kind of map control.

I’d agree about the lack of small maps, even though they’re mostly still pretty fun. SWAT has only a few variants so far, and they’re really large, more like sniper maps for the most part. Somewhere between the size of reach maps and these would be better, IMHO.

Well said. Sprint also unfortunately hinders gameplay on those Halo 2 maps.
