The “Lack of Content” Talking Point is Hypocritical

Loool Right now Vanguard is way more fun than Infinite.

I actually have maps to choose from, the map designs are mostly supperb, weapon customization, new weaps, new vehicles etc etc.

Halo gets boring after an hour of playing the same few maps with Desync, grenade spam, weapon balance and lack of modes, and despite Halo’s new gun, equipment and movement Mechanics being excellent, it isn’t enough to outweighs the negatives.

People can only enjoy so much grapple-shot spam, with low radar range, Melee bleed through, no social experience in lobbies, few equipment types, bad vehicle spawns etc

Halo’s improvements in Movement, Assault Rifle and BR gunplay, excellent Ghost Handling/fire rate nd new Equipment/Sandbox plusses isn’t enough to outweigh the problems that overshadow it.

The Banshee feels horrible compared to Halo CE or Halo 4, The Wraith Drives like a 250,000 ton floating Dump Truck, the Tank steers like a Snail with metal treads, the Brute Chopper Handles like a Drunk Sailor and the Vehicles drops via Pelican are…!!!

Desync isn’t really as bad as most people think. It’s a factor, but most of the time people are just missing shots or melees and blaming the desync. Every now and again someone will take a clip that shows the desync was actually the problem, but I have to catch my friends complaining about it a lot when it isn’t.

It’s at its worst when vehicles are involved. I have another mini montage I’m almost finished with that shows how weird it gets with things like tanks and wasps

Nahhhhh. Desync is horrible and people have proved it via comparing the Theater mode to a replay of their on-screen game match to show the differences.

I had 22 ping last night and was getting shot through walls/corners BEFORE I even walked around the corner because my Spartan’s actual location on the map wasn’t the same as the location displayed.

Just because it doesn’t happen frequently does not erase the feeling of annoyance one gets from a moment like that, especially when you do have a perfect shot but its not registering.

Theater mode is busted, it doesn’t show accurate gameplay footage. It hasn’t since like Reach

Yes, that’s all this is.

Once Halo has:

— Increased Radar range ( or larger Radar display UI circle or ability to move Motion tracker to upper right corner )

— Improved Vehicle Handling

— Standard modes like Assault, VIP, Juggernaut and Doubles, Shotty Snipers

— At least 20 maps

— Proper vehicle spawns

— More Equipment or ability to have more than one equipment at a time

— Weapon balance and damage adjustments ( like the Ravager which is nearly useless )

— Fixes for Desync

— Better map layouts and bigger maps for BTB

— More new Vehicles

— A 1-50 Ranking system UI ( or comparable system )

— Drop-Wall buff ( almost nobody uses Drop-Wall )

Then it will be halfway there to being playable.

So the lack of maps and new vehicles is people complaining just to complain ?

People have outlined in excruciating technical detail what the vast problems with the game are, and is different than just vague comments like “this game sucks” or subjective things like not liking the store or armor shader selection.

So saying that people are complaining just to complain isn’t valid unless we are talking about people complaining about stupid things like glitches or Petty issues, which does happen, but doesn’t represent the large number of valid concerns about core game attributes that are broken or flawed to the point that it pushes away even long-time players like myself.

I won’t address most of that because I agree it’s needed, but I don’t even think radar should be in the game personally. Or I would prefer the version from the flights where it didn’t show people who aren’t sprinting or shooting. Radar is an annoying crutch imo.

And Drop Wall is actually quite tactically powerful. I can’t explain it better than someone who has made a video on YT about how to use it optimally, but it’s one of those situations where people who don’t think it’s good just don’t know how to use it

And I will say the only weapon I think needs any changing is the Ravager. It’s Standard fire mode is underpowered, mostly because in the flights it was WAY overpowered and they nerfed it too hard. Something in between but closer to how it is now would be good, because it shouldn’t be CinderShot tier either for balancing. All the other weapons are good, and if people really felt them out in gameplay more they’d realize it.

Interesting thread, I think very similarly about all the born again Halo 5 Christians that came out of the woodwork, like yeah bruh it had content but it dripfed everything exactly the same way Infinite does, but I do believe the expectations vs reality is the crux of this issue.

People expect MORE never less from sequels, in general expectations are always higher for sequels and its why so few series actually meet those lofty expectations set upon them. Its also worth noting that Infinite (compared to every single other Halo game) had FAR more time for them to get things in order than what Bungie ever did with Halo’s 1-Reach or even Halo 4/5, so there is no excuse that I can gather as to how a company that gets double the time they had to make the previous somehow releases a game with less content, its moronic and it proves what everybody has been saying about 343i since 2012; they are an incompetent company and should’ve had major restructuring or layoffs a decade ago but Microsoft are also bad at managing IP’s so they got away with it.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, if this were the game we got in 2012 it would’ve made far more sense. Now not only are tons of classic Halo fans disappointed now all those recent fans from 4/5 are pissed off because the company did a 180 concept wise so Infinite tries to be the best of both worlds but obviously it can never be beloved by too many as its so divisive.

Radar isn’t even in Ranked or Tactical slayer so there is your solution to not wanting Radar In the game…

Halo has always had a motion tracker and rightfully so to help reduce camping

The Drop-Wall is powerful/tactical compared to what ?

It’s like a paper wall that lasts for a few shots, has a SLOWWWW deploy time, lacks the 360 coverage of the Bubble Shield and can easily be mitigated by throwing nades around the side.

They should at least have an upgraded version from the Campaign

Exactly, but it makes ranked the ideal mode of play for more people than it really should. Maybe some folks want more casual gameplay without the radar being so prevalent.

I think the radar range is fine, mostly because I don’t rely on it that much personally. If you’re staring at the radar too much you miss what’s going on in the match

Compared to not having it at all.

It’s a hard counter to power weapons, vehicle shots, fusion coils, and can buy you and your teammates time in a firefight to gain the upper hand.

People try to throw it down mid fight out in the open, die, and think it’s useless. You use it for setups, not as a bail out equipment when you’re pressed. That’s what the thruster and repulsor are for.

And as far as the deploy time, that’s addressed in the videos I talked about. You don’t throw it out in front of you, you look down and it deploys nearly instantly because it has to touch a surface first. It’s not a bubble shield thank goodness

For me its a mix. There is a decent amount of content. Not as much as other games, but it is mostly Free to Play and live service. That should make up for it.
However, my personal problem is that it lacks a little in quantity, but suffers worse with quality. (I’m not going to discuss desync nor PC stability, but those are a valid issues)

The game released with only a few game modes. Okay. That’s fine with me, I rarely do more than that, but theoretically, with custom games you can make the game modes that the main playlists lack, which would help the community waiting for forge at least.
In practice, custom games are broken and missing many standard features for the game mode. We simply can’t make the gamemodes that aren’t in the main playlists, but 343 shows they can release such modes themselves. You can’t make your own fiesta mode with friends, you’re forced to use the playlists. When you only have the few same modes for 6 months when you previously had more options, and what few options you have are busted, then it makes the game feel more repetitive than it really is.

Then there is theater. We don’t have an in-game report option. Which is annoying, but at least we have theater to go back and catch them after a match. Except that theater is broken too. So you have to go away from your match to make note of a player cheating to report them later. When other games, and even Halo games, had this function built into the game itself.

The maps feel limited because most of them aren’t designed that well and only make the amount worse. (I’m fine with the amount, but again, quality) They look nice, but don’t offer anything spectacular. People complained about COD having only 3 lane maps, and most of Halo Infinite’s are just 3 lane maps. But I will give benefit of the doubt, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. We have grappling hooks, jumping, and repulsor jumps to help with verticality. I argue BTB offers the most versatility out of the maps, but only on foot. With the vehicle balancing already bad, and the maps themselves limiting vehicles to their roads, the maps feel too claustrophobic for already weak vehicles. Then with the random nature of vehicle spawns, that limits what players are allowed to do in BTB. Then without a longer range weapon on these maps (I argue for commando, not the BR) then you have to get close and you’re back to playing like an arena match.

Aside from the store itself limiting customization, on top of that, promotions that aren’t done through the in-game store often don’t work. If no one has seen my repeated Zeta Sky rants, find one of my posts or replies literally anywhere. My point is that 343 couldn’t get the pre-order bonus right, nor many of the other promotional coatings. Including HCS Winter. Regardless of how good or bad they look, many people who were promised to receive their items, never got theirs and 343 has offered nothing for their mess-ups. in the case of Zeta Sky, we paid early for the item. We deserve to have it.

Then co-op. I’m in a minority that I won’t play campaign until co-op is out. That’s my decision. But from what I hear, the campaign is missing many features, and the vehicle balance is so messed up it ruined a boss (don’t tell me who, I had enough spoiled) So the campaign itself isn’t up to par with others for more than enough money, and it is missing a feature that people were complaining about since Halo 5. You know, the 4 player co-op game in a couch and LAN famous franchise, with only online co-op. So the campaign, the thing we spend $60 on, is missing basic features and suffers worse from game-wide mistakes in addition to missing a delayed mode.

Yeah MCC and Halo 5 didn’t have good launches either. That’s why we expected more from 343. They said they wanted to fix all that. They appointed community members that were very critical of their games as forerunners so they could see how the community reacts. They claim they saw our issues. Yet here we are with an incomplete game.
Why should we be happy that this launch is comparatively worse? Since Halo 4, 343 has only stripped away or replaced features at launch more than they added. Adding more later should be a bonus, not an excuse to release a game before it is ready. co-op and forge isn’t a bonus. It is delayed launch content. They said that themselves. Being “live service” isn’t an excuse to deliver less than the bare minimum. We can argue if this is 343’s fault, or Microsoft, or invstors, or whatever. It doesn’t change that this is the game we have. Even if it eventually becomes the best Halo game in the series, we won’t have the bare minimum of functional content until at least 6 months after launch. Probably longer.

Halo Infinite, to me, doesn’t reach the bare minimum of quality, and is just shy of the bare minimum of quantity.

I’d rather not use a drop wall and die to an enemy player than even use it.

That’s how much it sucks. The Deploy time is so slow my Grandma could bake Flood themed cookies and make a Grunt meat casserole by the time it deployed.

Spartans have lighting reflexes but take 101,000 years to deploy a Drop-Wall.

Yeah and having to look down to fast deploy it is stupid. Should be able to do that with a double tap of the equipment button for “Fast Deploy”

Are you seriously arguing that there won’t be a replica of Halo 3 when that really was never even asked for???

As for the rest of the topic, I don’t know what to say.
You take a complex topic and throw out all kinds of stuff for the sake of simplicity.

No, people may not use Co-op at the moment for older games as they’ve played them already, or don’t really have anyone they want to play with.
No, people may not use Forge, but can enjoy the fruit of others’ labour in it.

Buut, Infinite is barebones compared to previous, older games on the same timescale.
Halo CE to 3 featured a richer campaign environments with better missions, more enemy variety and mission structure.
Reach didn’t really have the enemy variations but everything else still applies to it.

Infinite has a few missions, and no mission selection severely decreasing any selective replay-value it could have had. The Free roam part is a filler, plain and simple. It has a few different objectives copy pasted across a large map with story segments in between to unlock a new section of the map.
Ontop of that, co-op may utilise Singleplayer stuff only but it adds replayability as you experience it with someone else. Something missing from Infinite.

While CE and 2 doesn’t feature a Theatre, Halo 3 and Reach does, and both can play multiplayer, campaign and firefight (Reach) games.
Infinite’s is MP only, I have yet to work out how to use it as well.

Forge was introduced with Halo 3, and improved upon with Reach. Both which supplied players with a load of player made content.
Infinite’s Forge is yet to be launched and that absence has indeed made Infinite feel content-less.

Now let’s then look at Multiplayer.
Infinite has very little to offer when it comes to game modes, and playlists.
Halo CE may not have had that many modes itself but it was a good variety of modes, Slayer, CTF, Oddball, KotH, Race and Juggernaught.
While some modes disappeared for sequels, new ones were introduced and the Franchise saw a lot of modes in Reach.
Infinite sits with Slayer, CTF, Oddball, Strongholds / Total Control and Stockpile.
In terms of playlists it’s very limited, still is, and was even more so at release.
While map count is around traditional release count, the lack of gametypes makes the offering limited.

In addition to that Reach offered Firefight.

So no, Infinite is lackluster in content, and it’s not hypocritical to say so while pointing at older games, because they, unlike Infinite, released with more content, varied content.

Then it would be overpowered. They didn’t want a repeat of 3, Reach, and 4’s shield options

Given the abysmal Radar range, the thruster as a “Bail” out tool is nerfed AF because you could be thrusting right into an enemy player and not know it due to fast closing distance times of their Sprint + Your thrust

Halo 3 and Reach released with more content, specifically. No games since have without egregious issues on the side
