Ok, so by now I’m sure you’ve seen the key art for halo 4. (Incase you haven’t, here’s a link)
It’s pretty clear that that’s the Forward unto dawn on the left side of the picture but on the right side looks to be a covenant ship. What do you think?
EDIT: I know it IS covenant but I mean what kind of ship do you think it is etc…?
To me it looks like an over-sized seraph.
Well, I use it as background on my phone and on my desktop so I pretty much know how it looks and what’s in it

LOL same here except it’s on my iPod
The Covenant (of some kind) has been confirmed to be in the game already.
I think the box art is symbolic of the ancient enemy being of greater power than either humanity or the Covenant. (Hence both ships being dragged into the Forerunner planet).
There’s actually 3 cruisers in that picture, the obvious one to the right, then theres one right behind it slightly to the left of it, then theres one just above chief’s assault rifle. not sure what the thing underneath chief’s rifle is though.
These are just things i’ve noticed.

You’re right. There’s definitely more than one ship (or more than one piece of it) in the picture. It actually looks like there’s an entire fleet of covenant ships there. Guess chief had to make a fast escape…
Best guess on what’s under chief’s AR is a phantom.
I can’t be absolutely certain as to what type it is as it seems the front half has been murdered, but I’m pretty sure that’s a CCS Battlecruiser.
To me it looks like both the Forward Unto Dawn and the Covenant cruiser are getting demolished by something much more deadly (AKA ancient evil). Maybe they added the Covenant cruiser to show the player that the Covenant can’t handle the deadliness of the new enemy.

Exactly this

Or it could be the most obvious answer.
Those ships may be part of the Covies attacking Chief at the beginning or even worse, ships that have been there for a long time.
Either way, it’s probably because they’ve just crash landed there.
