To anyone who uses the jump and strafe move to survive when they are about to die, and have played Halo 4: does that move actually help in Halo 4?
Er what do you mean? You can still jump and move to the side…
Yeah, but does doing the jump & strafe over and over still make you survive more hits than you would otherwise? Or does it just make you look stupid?
Yes, of course.
I remember a guy that posted here a thread that was like: “Jumping is OP! it’s just too powerful, please remove it from Halo 4” and he wasn’t trolling at all (now it’s a common joke among XboxLive friends)…well if you are that kind of guy, i would reccomend you to “imb4 insults” from the Halo community.
Hmm, is everyone still disavowing this move? I don’t think that’ll keep 343 from noticing it, in fact I think they already did. I think they already fixed it for 4. In the gameplay videos I’ve watched, it doesn’t look like it’s helping much to me. Of course if it’s a lag thing, it could come back once the public is playing it over the servers. Depending on how hard they’ve stress tested the servers.
This makes me want to throw my controller in swat!
Jump strafe? Are you talking about pressing the crouch button quickly in the middle of a jump? If you are, that’s not strafing.
> Yes, of course.

I remember that thread, lol. My fav was still “Is the Chief OP”?
> Yeah, but does doing the jump & strafe over and over still make you survive more hits than you would otherwise? Or does it just make you look stupid?
Looks stupid IMO
While it does look stupid, jumping and strafing will always help in Halo or any shooter where you move fast and jump high.
yes, you can do the ghandi hopping and strafe like a god on the ground yay =D.
Survive more hits? Or dodge shots?

Fixed? From what I’ve heard, strafing is actually really fast and crisp in Halo 4, which is a good thing. It’s a mechanic that never needed “fixing”, and by you saying that it can “help you survive more hits” in an earlier post, I don’t think you get it. It simply makes you harder to hit, as well as making gameplay flow better overall.

No, I mean jumping, then moving sideways in midair.
> Survive more hits? Or dodge shots?
Survive more hits. For it to count as dodging a shot, you have to not get hit by the shot.

Nope. On my screen it shows them getting hit by most of my shots, but they aren’t taking as much damage as they should be. My screen shows me not missing. It’s not a matter of me having trouble aiming.

Yay you can have bad spatial awareness, bad aim, and poor dodging skills, but still win because of a trick move?

Uh jumping doesn’t decrease bullet damage. Either you’re missing, shooting too fast and missing because of bloom, or you’ve got lag issues.

I’ve played rediculous hours of H:R, I think I know the difference between hitting and missing by now, I know bloom well enough by now, and I have a high end Internet connection that I just upgraded to even more high end, not to mention I use Ethernet cables to be faster than wireless. There may be lag, but it’s not coming from my connection. It’s something caused by that jump strafe move. It’s noticeably different than when it’s not used.

Then I don’t know what you’re talking about. While I’ll still cite connection problems (or possibly hackers, as they’ve been rampant in Reach lately. I’ve played a game against people who would take ZERO damage from DMR shots), I won’t dispute whether or not this happens to you. It shouldn’t, because it doesn’t normally happen in the game (I’ll test it myself when I get home from class), so I don’t know what the problem could be.
