I think a really good change for the armor colors right now would be to make it so that when you unlock an armor colors you can change individual armor color pieces of the nine you see on your armor. So the range of customization would be higher. Maybe they could be cheaper but these would make armor coatings much more valuable 
They work the way they work because Halo Infinite is just Destiny 3, and Coatings are just Destiny Shaders, except unlike Destiny 2, in Infinite, you can’t use the same Shaders on all your armors, weapons, and vehicles, or individual parts of armor, which is why it is Destiny 3, the worst future.
At least if it were like Destiny, you could have all your weapons, vehicles, and armor match, and even apply different coatings to helmet, arms, legs, chest, and visor.
Then that $20 white coating would be worth it. Infinite is scuffed.

Honestly if we were able to choose our own colors the system would be really good! However I understand money is the first priority with this game unfortunately.
Maybe a compromise would be paying like $5 to be able to make your own armor coating fully customizable. It would still be ridiculous that you’d have to pay, but at least you’d have the ability to, and honestly that sounds like the only method 343 would realistically implement to allow individual armor paintings.
At least until the PC community figures out how to mod that into the game for free. We’re looking to y’all modders now!

I do wish that Core Colors was more like Corse Design Styles. Think of it as a pattern you paint on the Spartan, but you still get to pick the colors.

Also I just hit rank 24 in the battle pass I’d unironically never play the game again if I was banned.
