The issue of Forge and Custom Games

Hello there, I would like to way that this topic is mainly a medium for myself and other players to voice their opinion about Halo 4’s Forge and Custom Games.

I am not going to bash the people who spent years making another Halo game. Whether you hate it or love it, you are probably grateful that it exists; I know I am. I would prefer if players posting on here would pay them the respect they deserve: as I will try to.

I have noticed something about the last two Halo games: Halo: Reach and Halo 4. The first being a Bungie creation and the latter being 343’s creation. This “trend” is a simple, yet frightening one: Halo has moved from an “equal” balance of casual enjoyability and competitive triumph, to a very, very unequal one.

Halo: Reach took away many enjoyable weapons and made the DMR the one and only gun to use (besides the pistol). However, it blew us all away with probably the greatest thing to enter the Halo Franchise since Forge in Halo 3. The biggest map in Halo history (Halo Custom Edition is unfair ;))

Forge World

While the game made a large shift from casual to competitive, the introduction of Forge World, coupled with the tenfold increase of Custom Game options, made huge strides for those players who love Custom Games and Forge.

I have my issues with Halo: Reach and in my opinion it was the most unenjoyable Halo game in general. (That is my opinion, and I will not respond to posts arguing about that opinion, that’s not why I’m here).

Halo 4 made the competitive aspect more like Halo 3, aka I didn’t have to just use the BR in matchmaking. I could use any weapon! (Side note, increase the damage of the Carbine, come on who here remembers Halo 3’s Beta!?!)

But, there is an issue with Halo 4’s Forge and Custom Games.

A very large amount of options, and frankly innovations, were removed. (Assault) Certain things don’t work correctly. (Magnets)

There is a large list of things that were removed, and a larger list of things that don’t work correctly. There is already a forum post for that.

The biggest issue with this lack of options and “bug testing” is why did it happen?

Straight up, Why were so many options taken out, and why was this game shipped with things that don’t work?

I mean I love unlocking things but unlocking the “ability” to have a future update to fix things that are broken doesn’t really appeal to me.

I know recently Frank O’Conner (Love you long time) said that there were a lot of things the team learned and a lot of things that didn’t work. I understand that things break and it takes a while to fix them, especially if they aren’t tested to their full potential.

The issue of Forge and Custom Games in Halo 4 is this:

“343 why did you remove options in Custom Games and Forge that were essential to their being?”

Another follow up question would be this:

“Is there any way you can implement old creations, and please if there is, don’t keep us in the dark”

I would write more but this is a wall of text and I have to get to Calc III.

Thank you if you read this far.
See you on the battlefield
