This topic is only aimed at those Hardcore Halo Classic fanatics who refuse any change whatsover for the next Halo games. I know there are some of you who miss it, but in the end are enthusiatic to see something new brought into the table.

Now i do see why Halo Classic fanboys are scared of Halo 4 and why they in a way refuse to see this game as a Halo title that they could recognize. Some are there for the very feel of it, others for competitive reasons. They kind of remind me of -Yoink!-. They are the type of people who see change as a bad thing. If things go out of place, or seem very different from what they use to know, they could go in a frenzy, or even feel an extreme sense of discomfort. You hate seeing change. It all of course started when Halo:Reach came about. Bungie wanted to try something new and they went for it. AA’s different weapons, different physics, all the sort. Even though the game really didn’t hit the mark to satisfy some of us, it is still a great game, and i applaud Bungie for trying to experiment with the games formula.

And now Halo 4 is coming up, and most of the entire population is excited for its release, key word being most. There are still some of you guys out there who fear the worst out of this game. With the addition of Customizable loadouts, improved armor abilities, changes to some of the mechanics to the overall game, they see this games as a blasfemy. They in the end refuse to see this game as a Halo game.

What’s the Irony? The fanboys themselves are indirectly trying to turn the entire Halo franchise into Call of Duty.

What do i mean about this? Let me explain.

Call of Duty as we know is a first person shooter like Halo, very popular and are overall good games. One huge detail that upto MW2 that everyone else noticed, is the fact that ever since MW2 and beyond, THEY ARE PLAYING THE EXACT SAME GAME. Why, cause either the developer are either too lazy to make changes, or a more reasonable fact, to keep the Hardcore fans happy. The sad thing is though…that strategy is doing more harm than good. The CoD players are in fact wasting their time and money on games that in the end are nothing more than OVERPRICED PATCHES. The CoD crowd is slowly declining and some of the hopefuls out there are expecting new things to come out of Black Ops2.

And you say Halo 4 is going to suck?

You classics out there really want another Halo 3 or Halo 2? To play the EXACT same game you’ve play for years now, just with a 4 in it? If it IS, just play Halo 2 PC, or Halo 3 again.

You guys first of of all have to grow up, cause in the end things do change for the better or for the worse. If not,Halo will end up as nothing more than a memory. As far as I’ve seen, and that many others have seen, things are looking up for Halo 4. The fact of the matter is if things don’t change, people are eventually going to get bored of the game. And as sad as i may sound, but CoD4 did evolutionize the means of how shooters are meant to be played now a days. Halo now has to step it up to compete with CoD and all other shooters.

And despite all the changes, most people who have played the game in E3, PAX, or RTX have all said the exact same thing, “Its still Halo.” So in the end, it is safe to say that Halo 4 is going in the right direction in order to please us all and provide a new exciting experience that we will love and never forget.

Any chance you could TL;DR that up a bit for me?

> Any chance you could TL;DR that up a bit for me?

People being too resistant to change will make the games stagnate, Ala COD.

OT: good post op, very well put.

Thanks Dr. Nick!

That felt really good to write haha.

> Any chance you could TL;DR that up a bit for me?

Hardcore Classic Halo fanboys are try to turn the Halo games into Call of Duty, in terms of refusing any change whatsoever into the formula for new Halo Titles. Basically trying to put the Halo gamesin the same direction as how every CoD game since MW2 haven’t done any changes to the games design.

I went in a halo 3 ranked slayer lobby and asked everyones opinions of halo 4.I said its going to be the best game ever…Heres there responses

-Yoink- YOU HALO 4 IS COD YOU MUST BE A COD FANBOY!
HALO 3 IS THE LAST GOOD HALO GAME
Why is 343 doing this to our game!
Im going to buy it,try it and then burn it and play this game again.

Dayumn those fanboys are crazy!

WOW, thank you for simplifying it. I appreciate it.

Big post with big words?

Must thank.

Halo 4 is a mix from halo 3 and reach. Just because 343i is changing halo 4 for something better, doesn’t mean they are turning it to something equal like call of duty. CoD and halo are way different from each other. Only both are fps games

How is what you said ironic?

First of all, by keeping Halo the same every release, you are not “turning it into CoD” in the slightest, in fact, the only way to turn Halo into CoD would be to change it.

Second, what you mean by “turning Halo into CoD” is that Halo would follow the design philosophy that CoD does which, according to your definition of a classic fanboy, is exactly what they would want.

So again, how is it ironic?

tl;dr the people who don’t want ANY new change gameplay-wise have settled into a comfort zone and are too scared that they wont be able to keep up to others.

At least, that’s how I see everyone complaining about the ability to throw the oddball. They’re afraid they can’t keep up and want everything the way they’re used to.

What he is trying to say is that hardcore halo fanboys, the ones who usually take any chance they can to bash COD and how its is just the same game released over and over, are usually very reluctant to change in halo games. By being reluctant to news things and wanting things to stay the same, you would ending up with the same game coming out, like COD.

IRONY!

This line of logic makes absolutely no sense, and you have absolutely no evidence to back up that claim.

Funny thing is they probably know absolutely nothing about the game lol.

Where is your evidence to suggest such a claim is true? In fact, would it not make more sense, logically, that the people who complain about CoD being the same every year are the same people who DO accept the changes in Halo, and the classic fanboys are the ones who couldn’t care less about CoD?

That makes far more sense than what you said.

Good thing it’s my opinion. Also, certain people have no evidence that the new stuff is going to be so game breakingly horrible as they claim it will be.

I’ll give the no dropping flag thing to’em but they made such an uproar over tossing the oddball. Settled into a comfort zone and don’t want any change, if they had it their way it’d be Halo 3 every single year with advanced graphics.

visiting this forum every day I see a different topic of “dedicated halo fans” complaining about another thing 343i changed (sounds, flags, story, character actions, etc etc). If that isnt evidence i dont know what is.

Your definition of irony is wrong - the fact that your post ‘the irony of classic…’ involves no irony is ironic.

Your post is a form of sarcasm - you argue a deprecating intention of superiority where one does not exist at all.

However, I get your point, it’s valid but nostalgia reins supreme

The “Good thing it’s my opinion” part made me laugh and simultaneously choke on my coffee. Thanks for that.
