The Invisible Wall.

I’m sure this threads been beaten to death in the last few installments but for me personally, one of my favorite experiences in Halo CE and Halo 2 were the countless hours I spent on level exploration. (Even H3 and Reach had a few gaps in the invisible walls…)

Remember towards the end of CE, when you steal the Banshee in the snow level you can fly it all the way to the top of a bridge and snipe/grenade/rocket all the Covenant a mile below you who run frantically back and forth? S**t was great.

I wish I could still do these types of things in 4. It’s completely understandable why the invisible wall/restricted area is there in MM, but in my personal opinion it should be removed in the Campaign and in Spartan Ops. Being restricted from gaining a tactical advantage by being creative (scaling rock faces and cliffs with a sniper rifle) while playing S.O. or Campaign on Legendary still irks me… Especially in the era of the Jet Pack.

I don’t care if it bugs out and I fall through a mountain.

i remember on halo CE, on TSC mission, you could drive out into the ocean, coupel years back doingthat with a friend in the middle of the night split screen mucking around underwater in a hog, just running and exploring missions was awesome

halo 4 wins story and graphic wise, but it’ll never ever compete with the classic moments and map explorations of the original halo games

Lack of invisible walls was one of the very first things abouot Halo that made me fall in love with it. If your spartan could jump to it, they let you go there.

In so many games areas are blocked off that you could easily get your character to.

This just bugs me with places like in Halo: Reach’s Countdown multiplayer map with the white water pipes everywhere (like near the flag stands)…you can’t jump on top of them. There’s plenty of room to fit on them, but you cant.

Climbing buildings in Halo 2 was a good example of exploration as it added a new way to tackle Outskirts.

Halo 4 when you’re out on Forward Unto Dawn, I feel too restricted  I’d also like to explore a bit on Requiem.

The invisible wall was bad enough. Return to the Battlefield is just an insult.

Really, all Bungie games had good exploration. Past Halo 2 they made it harder, but it was still very possible.

Halo 4 though…:frowning:

Halo 3 ODST was amazing for exploring

I think there are a few places in various SOs (and definitely places in Campaign) that you can get to that you probably aren’t supposed to be able to…Secrets are just harder to share when you can’t take things into Theater…>_>

Agreed; man I used to spend hours with a friend just trying to warthog grenade jump onto unattainable pieces of terrain. Great memories with CE.

Great example. You could jump off building rooftops onto incoming Drop-ships and Pelicans in that level. (Let alone bypassing entire checkpoints via roof if you so desired…) Not to digress, but the lack of restriction coupled with the addition of skull hunting made the exploration in H2 that much better. I’d feel much more accomplished having to jetpack up a rockface to find the skulls in future Halo titles.

Bump. I’d really love to have this feature removed for future Halo titles.

Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!

Trying to stay alive.
