Typically, such things get buried so fast under the incoherent ramblings of our peers.
I have to disagree with you that multiplayer is going in the right direction, but that would derail the thread, and only time will tell honestly.
But as for the multiplayer being a simulation, it seems kind of cheesy in my opinion. I think most players aren’t really going to care about it, they will just play to play. For me it’s a bit disappointing in that whatever maps we will play, regardless of how grand and amazing the locations, are just simulations in the end. For example, it would feel different knowing that Blood Gulch, Zanzibar, High Ground, Valhalla, and others were all just training sims and not real. I could be wrong and maybe not every map is a sim but who knows. I get that they were just trying to make campaign and multiplayer relevant to each other, but I still think it’s a bit awkward. But that’s just my opinion.

I completely respect your opinion. The approach does sound albeit a bit cheesy but 343i might be able to pull it off if they add enough story into the mix. The main fact that I like about it is that it ties directly into the main storyline, unlike in previous games.
If they can pull it off without making it seem cheesy, then more power to them. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Shame that you picked a very bad timing to make a thread lol. I did the same though. Think it’s gonna be a very long while before the commotion dies down.
I have to admit, I don’t like what seems like a variant of the “it’s all a dream” trick being pulled. Seems like a cheap way of adding in backstory, and it takes away from the environments, knowing that in canonical reality they don’t exist. I’d much rather UNSC vs Insurrectionists, or even it being actual UNSC exercises with them glossing over the fact that Spartans are frequently dying.

Hahaha, I know.

It’s not exactly ‘it’s all a dream’ in that sense, the Spartan IV’s learn from it. I imagine it as being a bit like a mix between the virtual world of The Matrix and the ‘Bleeding Effect’ of Assassin’s Creed where Desmond Miles gained the abilities of his ancestors.
I like it. When they announced that they were putting a story into multiplayer, “training simulation” was all I could come up with. And so did they apparently. It’s not bad, and I wasn’t expecting much. Plus, having read Glasslands and seeing they’re Spartan IV’s, it’s pretty cool in its own way.

Same with me, there’s not really any other viable way to implement it and make it sound realistic within the canon of Halo.
Personally I love how 343 is managing Mulitplayer. They brought back the best of the Armour Abilites like Jetpack and Hologram.

Not to mention sprint as a default AA, it’s going to make things interesting. People need to realise that 343i can easily make playlists that restrict AA’s for those that are so uptight about them.
