The Insurrection In Halo 5?

Was just thinking about this, we know that Venezia is an Inserruction/rebel human colony populated largely by former Covenant species, largely Brutes, Grunts, and Jackals. I was wondering how they could add new factions, and thus more enemies, weapons, etc. to Halo 5, when I realized this could very well happen:

The Insurrection, led primarily by human rebels, could enter the fray as a major player by forming a military comprised of former Covenant species led by Brutes. Their armor, weaponry, and ships would come from a combination of Covenant and humans technology.

Think of all the possibilities:

  • We get to fight Brutes again (for the Brute fans)
  • We get more enemies to fight
  • New class of weapons
  • Insurrection introduced to the games’ story, allowing more story complexity, perhaps longer campaign, etc.

Think this could happen?

343i almost seems to be pushing an idea like this as of late. We know Venezia continues to be an important piece of the Kilo-Five trilogy and will probably, hopefully, get fleshed out in the third book. Recently other things have pointed to Rebel activity, such as the lore in the Castle Map Pack. Two of the three Castle Maps are connected to the Insurrectionists, Outcast and Perdition. I just wonder if that is significant in someway considering the UNSC uses these locations for War Game exercises.

Having species like the Brutes and Skirmishers together would be a great idea IMO. All factions featuring Covenant forces could have similar units, like Grunts and Jackals but have different variations of those units. For example, the new Grunt and Jackal is seen as Jul 'Mdama’s forces, while an Insurrectionist group could have traditional Halo 3/Reach style Grunts and Jackals. Gameplay for the most part would remind identical but their physical appearances could be different.

Could probably throw in some rogue Spartan IVs as it doesn’t seem like they have the indoctrination the Two’s and Threes have.

im down for insurrectionists to be in the games, but i think reclaimer trilogy will not feature them as a new class of enemy. in the meantime, play the marine challenge at the beginning of the level shutdown on legendary mode–just kill all the unsc forces w/out dying.

> Halsey could help Jul, by helping the remnants, which would lead to helping the rebels…which could lead to enemy Spartans! Gasp! This could lead to a Halo 2-like game featuring Thel, John, Kilo Five or whatever!

That wouldn’t lead to enemy spartans. They just don’t have the resources. The drugs and equipment they’d need would likely be far too expensive in it’s own right, not to mention they’d lack the resources, dietary needs and training for building perfect spartans like the IIs and IIIs. Not to mention one suit of Mjolnir costs the same as a warship. Rebels just don’t have that money. It would be like the muhajideen and taliban or the viet cong arming themselves with fighter jets, fleets of warships and the latest/ best equipment. It’s just not going to happen.

I hate the idea of enemy spartans. It’s cliche and just un-halo in every way. Rogue supersoldiers/ spec ops agents? What a fresh and completely original concept…

I don’t really like the idea of fighting humans either. Halo (at least in my eyes), has always been about humanity uniting against a greater threat to save themselves from extinction. The rebels just seemed like something that had been thrown in to explain the creation of Spartans.

I’d like to see three factions of covenant formed:

  1. A brute led faction, commanded by a High Chieftain that is still loyal to the old faith (Similiar to Tartarus, this new Chieftain would be named and would be a main character in the series. The Jul M’dama of the brute covenant). This would essentially be the same as Halo 4’s covenant but with brutes instead of elites. Skirmishers would also be present. They hate humans but are willing to work with the rebels (Rebels would be seen in cutscenes helping the brutes by giving them supplies, acting as builders etc). Their main goals are to extermite the elites with the humans’ help before betraying the humans and becoming the dominant force in the galaxy so that they can follow the great journey, New brute enemy types as well as the return of stalkers etc. Hunters may be replaced by brutes with specialised heavy armour and weapons?

  2. Jul M’dama’s faction. Halo 4’s covenant, that’s pretty much it. Spec ops grunts and elites would be more present though. It would be more similiar to the old Halo elite command structure (Blue = minor, Red = major, Black = spec ops, Gold = zealot).

  3. Thel’s covenant. These would be allied with the humans and would fight alongside you to defeat the other two covenant factions. Elites with the old Halo elite command structure, grunts and hunters, no jackals. Spec ops grunts would be included as well as sniper elites to replace jackals.

I’d like to see more forerunner enemies as well e.g. new types of sentinel, promethean knight (If they’re still around after Requiem’s destruction) and maybe even actual forerunners themselves in different forms to add variation. Forerunner vehicles such as the war sphinx would be included.

The Kilo-5 books really didn’t make it seem like the insurrectionists needed to fight the UNSC anymore. They got their independence thanks to the covenant, at least those that survived.

I also agree with Luke Del that rogue Spartans is a pretty lame idea. Not to mention, Halsey doing this would very un-halsey like.
