Sorry, with the 50 character limit the title sounds a bit ridiculous, but this is what I meant: The Zombie/Infected player settings (in Infection) is how the overall gameplay should have been for every playlist. Fast Base-Speed, increased jump-height, no ground pound/spartan charge, no sprint! It would have been perfect! Just take out the thruster and apply the rest of these settings to the rest of the game and I think this game would be a lot more popular than it is now! I know it is obviously too late to apply this to Halo 5, but I can’t stop myself from posting it after seeing Xbox’s Most Played Games, I mean, Halo 5 is not even in the top 20, and you’ve just got to ask yourself why that is? TTK (Time-To-Kill) aside, why do you think this particular Halo game is turning Halo fans away? Which mechanic do you want taken out in order for this game to feel more like Halo? What can 343 Industries do in order to bring back a lot of the old fanbase?
Many Halo fans are leaving the franchise (at least temporarily) because other game franchises are closer to dominating the genre, like: Battlefield, Titanfall, DOOM, Overwatch, and Destiny.
Some other reasons may be, but are not limited to:
- The game was bare at launch (when comparing to the average Halo game) - No Split-Screen - No Playable Elites - Sprint (and emphasis on it when looking at map design) - Micro-transactions/REQ Packs - Arguably the worst Campaign in the series (level design was interesting but the story and boss battles were pretty bad) - Spartan AbilitiesThe Infection settings seem fine and the population is pretty solid, IMO.
You seem like you want to bring the gameplay back to how Halo 2 and 3 were but 343i have their own “vision” and therefore, I believe that the gameplay will stay relatively the same for the coming years. Since I’m more than used to Halo’s new fast-paced gameplay and mechanics, I find myself almost irritated at how slow the OT feels and that’s why I don’t really have a problem with 343i’s spin on Halo ('s gameplay).

A lot of people were turned off from launch, and I know that I am the last of my friends who even looks at Halo 5 (all of them have dropped the franchise after playing almost religiously since CE.) They disliked the lack of content at launch and hate most of the Spartan abilities and speed of the gameplay. They also dislike the sudden shift in art style from 3 to 4 and were also disappointed significantly by the campaign of H5, and Halo 6 will be the first Halo game I don’t pre-order for similar reasons.
I’d probably do away with most of the Spartan abilities except smart-link (and make it a bit weaker on shotguns/swords and automatics), clamber (increase jump height slightly so it’s less needed), and change the thruster pack so it provides 5% more thrust, but has a 7 second cooldown. I’d also make it so:
- Automatic weapons have no headshot multiplier, - The base movement is faster and lighter with no sprint, - Make Vehicles with much stronger defense vs. small arms fire yet slightly weaker against explosive weaponry. That’s just game mechanics, not even including U.I. issues, better armor and undersuit customization, better campaign, improved theater, and matchmaking fixes.
HOWEVER, the Halo 5 forge is incredible at least. I applaud the forge team for such an excellent job, both in fulfilling forge requests and adding other things and fixes.
