This will be brief as the implication is quite obvious. There is only one reason 343 would decide to tie armor colors to specific pieces and that reason is monetization. I don’t see any logical reason for doing something so restrictive and so harmful to player creativity. If each armor piece has its own color they can basically duplicate exponentially the amount of pieces to increase the grind and induce players to spend money. They could also lock specific colors behind pay walls. Overall, I don’t see how anyone could support this feature. But hey, its F2P so its fair… right?

I mean, I agree in a sense. If I don’t have to pay for the game, then microtransactions are fine.
HOWEVER, and this is the kicker for me, this system blatantly removes any chance I would have of making a machinima in this game. I loved making these throughout Reach and Halo 4, but as soon as Halo 5 dropped, it became a game of grindy luck to get the armor necessary for certain characters. Now Infinite is probably following in the same vein as Halo 5, but with more customization options, and now I have to worry about not only getting crap banners, but also horrible armor color combos?
I thought we learned this lesson from Destiny, but I guess not.

‘‘If I don’t have to pay for the game, then microtransactions are fine’’ well yes, why do you think they made the multiplayer F2P? So that they can justify heavy monetization. My quote was sarcastic, obviously F2P is terrible. If you guys keep accepting 343’s increasingly greedy mechanics you will allow them to ruin Halo and turn it into a MTX casino. This decision was not made for the players, it was for monetization, plain and simple.
We currently have a megathread on armor coatings, feel free to share your feedback/thoughts there.
