The Hydra And Shotgun Needs An Upgrade

I completely Agree.

They need to

** Increase Hydra Fire Rate
** Slightly Decrease Hydra Damage per shot, but increase Splash damage radius
** increase Mag size.

This will allow you to successfully have more kills, but the decreased damage makes it not overpowered with the increased splash damage allowing better control against closely clustered players on objectives.

And the Reload speed for Hydra needs a Buff.

In 2580 No weapon is gonna have you individually reload Cartridges like that. It should be a Rotary Mag like the Bulldog and the Bulldog should have a Larger capacity Mag like the Vertical Mags in the AA12 shotty.

And the Hydra should have an Airburst capability as a secondary mode or upgrade.

If I were them, I’d tune the Bulldog to have slightly better Damage Range/damage at a distance falloff, slightly higher fire rate, but slightly lower damage. The faster fire rate would mitigate the slightly lower damage to equal out by making the 2 shot or 3 shot kill times more predictable and skill based.

And the slightly faster ROF on the Bulldog would make it more viable against the energy sword and Grav Hammer.

Grav Hammer should have slightly less damage but faster Hammer swing speed.

The Commando should have a fire Selection switch to Semi Auto as the secondary mode to make it like the DMR but with less range and higher damage falloff at a distance.

And a bigger Mag.

Rocket Launcher should have the Option for Shells that have a slightly slower launch time, but Faster moving Rocket, and less splash Damage to encourage accuracy and maybe an extra rocket.

Hydra is in a pretty ok place imo. 3 shots to kill someone for that fire rate is decent and it does splash damage too

Yeah, but it still pretty weak as a power weapon due to the low mag size and abysmally slow reload speed.

Just fixing those would make it more viable.

It isn’t a power weapon though

Then Halo needs more power weapons then, because right now it feels somewhere between reg weapon and power weapon and would better serve players as a power weapon.

Pretty sure there’s power weapons and then 3 other tiers of weapons, I think it is a tier 1 or 2, so it is fine

The hydra is fine. I would highly suggest going to academy and doing weapon drills with it. Study the projectile speed and lead your shots accordingly, the non homing hydra shots do more damage and kill in two hits. Its a great anti vehicle weapon too, if you catch a wasp out in the open theres not much he can do unless he has accessible cover. Warthogs die in 5 or 6 shots homing, and if you again memorize the projectile speed you can kill it faster non homing. Personally playing ctf on highpower, no one is able to get our flag unless its literally just me or a couple other teammates vs the bulk of the enemy team.

I’m decent with it but the splash damage seems inconsistent or weak.

The mag size and reload speed needs a Buff though and that def isn’t a user skill issue.

Disagree. The hydra being an explosive weapon is kind of misleading because you arent supposed to kill with its splash damage. The reload is completely fine given a seasoned hydra user can be extremely dangerous. If someone catches you in the open even on the ground with homing theres not much you can do and if you can make him waste ammo you can catch him reloading and finish it.

I mostly agree with you but they do not need to decrease its damage it’s bad enough as it is

The hydra in halo 5 is better

You must be joking about the Hydra being ok

This is why Halo needs the Jackal Shield or Equivalent.

It allows you some limited protection in open spaces, but doesn’t protect from all splash damage and the Shield would dissipate after a few hits.

It would give protection against the first burst of an overcharged plasma pistol, but be quickly mitigated by follow up shots or a Volley from the Plasma carbine.

That way the Hydra could be a bit more formidable, and the Shield would give you a defense against the first hit from an energy shield and defect some damage from the Grav Hammer.

It would add serious balance to the game.

No, I’m not.
You increase the reload speed, it becomes too strong, it already needs only 3 hits to kill, you increase the damage, it has the same effect. Increasing the mag is the only reasonable “buff”
