Like forward unto dawn? I think another way would be putting a flame thrower assassination, you jump on it and spray flames down its neck into coming out its guts.

I have always said something like this should be a thing, just like in Forward Unto Dawn. Ever since it happened in the film, I have been surprised that it was never an official thing in the games.
First thing that comes to mind is that scene from FUD… and I absolutely love this idea. You can either take it down conventionally, or apply some skill and get in close for the quick grenade kill.
It’s a good idea as long as it doesn’t make taking them down too easy. Maybe they could have the Hunter try to shake you off or something and you have to cling on somehow, Idk I just don’t wanna instant kill hunters like in CE.

Completely agree with this. I think the only way I’d want there to be a hunter assassination would be if you could do it in co-op and it required some sort of strategy and cooperative timing to pull off.
In single player, it would just take the point out of hunters being these huge tanks if you can just get behind them and one hit them.

Maybe you need to blow off the back armour?

I think a good way to counter this is to just make it a little harder to close the distance and get near enough to them to be able to complete this. Make the Hunters a little more aware and brutal as you get closer. Not to the point where they notice you every time, but just enough and if you are spotted they will get ultra defensive.
I’m hoping that it is added into Halo Infinite but I hope that it isn’t the easiest thing to do, balance it.

Yeah this thought struck me too. As long is it’s not like in Halo 5 where you die even if they miss you with their punches and the punches being instant and undodgable. Maybe something more along the lines of what they sound to be like in Infinite they punch and turn back around towards you faster after their punches.
The only problem I see with this is that it may also make it harder to shoot them in the backs since their back is hard to get to, I’m afraid it might take away the point of shooting them completely, making it so that the assassination is still always the preferred option, idk maybe it would work.

That’s likely to be happen yes, but if they go back to the way Hunters were in the earlier days where if you backed off they would eventually lose track of you and potentially give you a chance to get a good angle on their exposed parts and put a sniper round or two into them. I think that could still work even if they have gotten super enraged with you being too close to them like I suggested. There should always be a chance to back off.
I like the grenade idea, maybe also you can shove an energy sword into its back?

Yeah, that’s how I see it, you’d have to do a fair amount of damage before they “stagger” so you can assassinate them.
