Just a hypothetical/question for you all…
Do you think that it’s possible that we are only seeing the beginning of the ‘Hunt the Truth’ bit?
With all the ads, commercials, trailers, and so on… maybe those are more big picture and wasn’t only just targeted to just HALO 5.
Maybe it’s possible we see some of that come to fruition even more as the games continue on.
I’m sort of the fence that 343 simply didn’t handle connecting everything very well and that the whole ‘Hunt the Truth’ sadly turned out to be exactly as we see it now… almost nothing.
Just wanted to throw out a hypothetical and see what your thoughts are…
I’d like to think there is more to Hunt the Truth, but 343’s demonstrated a real difficulty in actually connecting things. I mean, how does the Didact, a living Forerunner and hyped as Chief’s first real nemesis, become extraneous to Halo 5’s story as an example? Makes getting hyped up or thinking outside the box a bit harder.

I definitely hear you on that.
I really hope that they lay out everything and figure out creative ways to tie everything together. I honestly thought they had things going great through HALO 4 and after but HALO 5 things became disorganized and many opportunities were sadly missed.
If 343 does things right, I really do think they can lay the whole story out, tie in loose ends, have creative explanations, and get the story/universe back on track. That has to happen now though because if the same goes on through HALO 6 and it did with HALO 5… it will be even tougher to brings things together… it needs to be now.

Well, I mean consider Halo: Escalation. After 24 issues of that series, what was the major conclusion? Everything was reset back to zero. No Janus Key. No Absolute Record. We’ve got Sali 'Nyon with a Covenant faction that can be fell back on so we never have to stop fighting the Covenant. And it has no connection with Halo 5 at all minus stuff for Tanaka’s character. 343 could have had Cortana take over the Absolute Record since it was evidently connected to all other Forerunner facilities in a way and help explain why Jul’s Prometheans rebelled against him and how Cortana was able to take control of so much so fast. I guess you can just say the Domain lets her do that, but the Record could have given us something tangible to look on too.
Maybe some new Hunt the Truth might help, but I’m skeptical.
