The Heatwave needs tweaking

Now, I love the designs of the new Forerunner weapons, but when it comes to performance the Heatwave is so underwhelming. It feels impossible at times to get a kill with this thing with either firing mode. With the Bulldog already in the game though, I think the Heatwave needs a buff that accentuates its unique utility. Maybe each shot could do enhanced damage upon each richochet, emphasizing bouncing shots around walls. Or perhaps its projectiles could have a homing effective upon richocheting. I personally like the former suggestion. What do you guys think?

The shotguns are pretty bad. Like I’d rather have the pistol than the shotgun, that shouldn’t be the case.

I’ve been struggling to find a niche or use case in which the Heatwave shines. It always feels really hard to get a kill with, and doesn’t give me much in return. Ricocheting around corners is cool and it seems like it would be able to keep pressure on enemies trying to hide and recharge shields - however I haven’t found a way to reliably get this to work, it’s too hard to land a hit even after ricocheting.

Am I missing something? What’s the Heatwave’s strengths? How should I use it?

Yeah, it was one of the guns early on I didn’t really like either. It seems to only really work at super close range, with the vertical targeting to get kills. Horizontal gets next to no kills and ricocheting, while awesome, doesn’t really provide much in the way of actual kills. It seems like for it to actually fill its role better it needs better damage at further ranges. It’s fine in spots like where it spawns underneath Live Fire, but other than those situations, it lacks utility, and I agree with others, I’d usually rather just keep my ar/sidekick over it, even though it seems like it should be an upgrade to the kit. Def needs some tweaks.

Agreed, I almost always pass on the shotgun

100%. The shotguns, even at close range, are peashooters

i love this gun! its one of my go to weapons in any gamemode. if you lead your shots it usually kills in 2-3 hits in the vertical mode if all the bullets hit your target but you have to learn to lead your shots otherwise its kinda a useless weapon.

Lead your shots. I got like 6 kills in short succession on Live Fire tonight.

I overused the Heatwave’s Vertical Fire Mode all the time throughout the multiplayer flight, and the shots could reach long distances. I like how the heatwave’s projectiles phases through enemies and could bounce back to hit pass through them. Honestly, I prefer the Heatwave over the Bulldog since I got the range advantage over the headshot damage advantage, and maybe the horizontal fire mode could be better even though I heard its useful for crowd control situations but that sounds like its useful against drones. If anybody could describe the horizontal fire mode with experience getting kills on the horizontal fire mode, that would be nice. So far I haven’t encounter any situations with crowd control, but more kills getting bank shots.

Well that’s the thing. 2 to 3 hits using vertical mode is absolute madness when you have to lead them at the same time. You’re hardly going to consistently land that many shots without making a mistake.

I agree, the heatwave should probably have a buff by either increasing the wideness of the bullet reg or does more damage.

I did not get a single kill with the Heatwave during the entire flight and I got no hits when trying to ricochet the shots.
It was fun to try to use but the Heatwave definitely needs a buff of some sort.

Heatwave is easy to kill people. Change it to vertical from horizontal shot and takes two shots to kill up close and you have 8 rounds before reloading

I like it too, jus two shots will melt a person. Jus gotta know how to use it and how to advoid someone who knows how to use it.

Ambush enemy in CQB, both modes 2 shots, or 1 shot and melee. But notice that it’s headshot.

It takes 2 to 3 shots to kill, which is similar ttk as the AR. You would be better off sticking to the AR because it is more effective in more variety of situations. It feels like a mini power weapon, but has the success rate of any other standard weapon out there.
