You truly get a feel for how important it is when its gone, and your Hud is crucial to how you play a game. It holds everything you need to succeed on the battlefield… digitally anyways.
The Hud we have now has been changing with each successive game in the series, improving every time. But there comes a point where you can’t improve it any further, and you will never appease everyone in the community. While i don’t think Halo 4 is at that point, its a good starting point for a new method of Hud creation.
The new form is basically a complete customization mode for creating a personal layout that works for you. You start off with the default design and you can select each piece to choose its properties.
Location: placement of that piece on your display can be moved to any location as long as it doesn’t go into the center of the screen. It will be restricted to a degree on how far inwards you can place it.
Size: some items like the radar and health bar can be adjusted in size to clear up your screen a little more or take up a bit more. This would help greatly for people with vision problems or small TV’s as well.
Style: pieces such as the ammo counter or grenade counter and so on can be adjusted to either an analogue readout or a visual representation of how many projectiles/items you have.
Color: each piece can be a different color, of the few preset colors that will work.
Global Color: changes all the Hud pieces to one color of your choosing.
On/Off: removes or adds a piece to you display.
The reticle is not an option for change, it stays the same at all times.
This gives the player the unique ability of being able set setup the display to his or her fighting style. They can have any item on any place they want, if they want almost no Hud then let it be, its their choice if they want the handicap or they think their good enough to play that way.
I don’t think this would effect gameplay in any way but a positive way.
