The Halo Visual Guide...a missed opportunity

All things considered, the Visual Guide is an awesome concept. However, I think 343 really missed an opportunity to make it great. I get it’s supposed to be a visual guide on characters, locations, weapons, and so on from the games, but why did it have to be just that? The Star Wars series makes books, such as an Essential Guide to the Force, Characters Weapons, Species, and anything you can think off.

I honestly think 343 dropped the ball here. I mean, there wasn’t even a section for the Forerunners as a species, even though they’ve been mentioned before in the games and concept art for them exists, but a page for the Forklift is put in? I for one would love a Visual Guide that took the characters, weapons, vehicles, worlds and pretty much everything else from the games, novels, Legends, and other media all in one big visual guide. I would honestly love to see elements like planets, landscapes and charcaters from the novels finally visualized by 343’s awesome artists.

You can make it happen 343.

I think they left out most of the forerunners stuff because it would spoil future media (games and novels). You have to remember they can’t mention everything in a book like that. A lot of the time stuff has to be left out.

I do agree that stuff from the novels and other media should be added but not now and also think of the size of the book :stuck_out_tongue:

They didn’t have to spoil anything about the Forerunners, just put in the pre-Cryptum info we all knew and keep it vague. I really don’t see the logic of excluding a main driving force of the franchise for a forklift.

It’s not like they were sitting there at a press conference wondering whether they should include the forerunners or a forklift… it’s likely they were like… pretty much done and were like… okay you know what would be “funny”? Let’s toss in Forkie!! :DD

But then that still means they forgot the reason the events in Halo occurred in the first place, the Forerunner-Flood War. Oddly enough they had a Flood section, but no Forerunner section.

I think they’re saving all that to sell a Visual Guide Complete Edition or something

Visual guide on game stuff.
In no way it’s a missed opportunity.
You’re quite a trouble maker.

Yeah, I said that, guess you didn’t actually read the OP. That said, it still is a missed opportunity. Why not incorporate every media into a visual guide? Why only the games? There is more to Halo than those.

I read it.
It’s not meant to be a big enclypedia.
It was originally going to be the, TOP 200 cool things from the halo games.

And yet they still missed the opportunity to make something much more useful to those who love the Halo lore. And even then, for a guide on the books, they still forgot a big thing, ie the Forerunners.

… We’re only in the begining of forerunner discovery.
There is lots of new info in it…
