Hi. I posted this on bungie.net also. I thought that I would share it here too.
I would like to just say that the Halo: Reach Community sucks. The game is great. But almost all the people that play the game. Just because you are online, it does not give you the right to be mean to little kids, tell them that their mom is going to get raped and killed, tell everyone to -BLAM- off. None of this is right.
Has anyone ever heard of the slogan “Treat others as you wish to be treated?”
Halo is my favorite game. and when I play it, I do not like to hear things like this. And yes it is just the Halo community. When I play CoD. Nobody talks. But that is at least better then telling kids that their mom is going to die. I have been hearing nothing but negatively from people on Halo these days. And it really takes a major part away from the game.
As of now, I would like to hear what you guys think of the Halo community. What do you think is good about it, and what do you think needs to be changed? If this thread becomes popular, then maybe something can happen to make it better.

Why so serious?
Dude if they annoy you you have multiple options to deal with them.
Flame back - as hard as you can
Ignore them completely (MUTE FTW)
Troll them
Laugh at them
Convince them to treat you better
Seriously the rage and flames just last for a few minutes normally. Just dont get mad.
For the community part: Alot of ideas that arise from the community are good ones.
I dont think the community is just composed of whiners because no game is perfect and the community addresses all points of the game. Some ideas are idiotic and some themes are treated more than others but these discussions lead to actual improvements.
I mean if noone would express their opinion on the various gameplay elements how should 343 know what to improve/rethink?

that’s why they give you the “mute all” feature, although i do agree with you with people talking smack to little kid’s it is a M Rated game, little kid’s should’nt be allowed to play it but parent’s decide to let them play it anyway’s n be there kid’s babysitter, and the people that do talk smack to little kid’s obviously have no life .
I’m on the fence with this one. On one hand, it’s just a game–at the end, I’m living in my own house and screwing my girlfriend, while the little kids yelling at me are eating dinner when their mommy says so.
On the other hand, I play video games to unwind after a day at work or college (yes, this makes me one of those horrible, dreaded casual gamers). So it usually pisses me off when I get into a lobby and hear unintelligible screaming, awful singing, and the like. Of course I mute these people first thing, but I’d rather not hear it in the first place. But hey, it’s online gaming, so I’m probably asking too much.
I do think that most of the kids being talked down to bring it on themselves though. If they want to play the game, they run the risk of playing in the same lobby as older people, and they quickly find out that anonymity makes a person grow large balls. And if people are so upset about this, there are options to give the offenders negative player reviews about their language, or even file a formal complaint if they so choose.
