“Artemis and I had always planned to leave, in fact, we were about to leave when Gears showed up, so we had to play along.” says Scorch.
“We never would have hurt Gears.” says Artemis.
Artemis hugs Gears.
“I always have a plan. Phoenix, activate the tracker for Reaper’s bio-signature.”
“Bringing it on screen now.” replies Phoenix.
“Agent J25, your Pelican is ready.” says Roland over the intercom.
“We’re going to back to Reach.”
“I am coming with you also reaper knows you he knows all of you what you plan to do but he thinks I am dead this suit hasn’t been tested we don’t know what it can do so lets find out”
says rook
heads down to the hanger
“gears what are you prepared to sacrifice”
Rook says
Gears sits silently in the Pelican. He looks down at the item in his hand. It was a picture of him and Moose, just before their first mission as Spartans.
“Anything.”
“Let me refrase that who are you prepared to sacrifice”
says rook
“um we have a problem we aren’t near reach and my ship doesn’t have a jump drive but we have something that does”
says the pilot
the pilot pushes a button that brings up a Lisk (covie ship in halo 4)
“Gears something is not right why would he still be on reach I checked how i died how is he still alive”
says rook
“Reach is the last place he’d expect us too look, so that’s why we’re going there. As for your other question, I would not force any of you to die so that we could save my brother.”
Scorch stands up.
“That’s why I’m choosing to sacrifice my self.”
Gears stares in bewilderment.
“I… I don’t… Why?”
“It’s what best friends do.” replies Scorch.
“Now, lets board that Lich.”
Aboard the lisk
“gears on every mission we lose something or someone remember that no mission goes without contact with the enemy so even if you don’t want someone to die someone will die”
says rook
“True, but that doesn’t mean the enemy isn’t dead.”
Gears hits a button on his belt. A high pitched sound is given off, scrambling the brains of all the covenant on board. The spartan’s helmets filter the sound out.
“I’m awesome.”
Rook opens fire with his SMG
“where do you get all this stuff gears”
says rook
“Former time traveler, remember?”
Gears steps over the bodies of the dead covenant.
“Phoenix, patch into the Lich’s systems.”
(My computer is almost dead, but I’ll be home in a little over an hour.)
Rook walks through the Lisk and finds stolen UNSC supplies and digs through it

says rook
he finds a bow UNSC edition (basically it looks like the predator bow from crysis 3)
Artemis walks in and and sees the bow in Rook’s hand.
“DIBS!”
She grabs the bow from Rook, then begins looking for arrows.
“Hey I found it first and looking for these”
Rook says as he holds out arrows
Artemis snatches the arrows.
“Bows are my thing. I’m not named after the goddess of archery for nothing.”
“Hey look another bow this shipment is full of it well I get one too”
rook says
rook grabs a bow and a pack of arrows
“See ya”
rook says
opens up his pack and finds his arrows can be customized
“hey scorch can you make me some incendiary arrows?”
says rook
“Mount a Plasma Grenade on it.” Gears says from across the room
Rook does so
“why did the covies have bows and arrows anyway…”
says rook with a strained voice at the end
just then rook feels something grabbing his neck and pulling him off the ground then a elite wearing arbiter armor uncloaks
“Do you remember me gears your tech can not stop me remember when you cut out my eye when I killed your parents in your laungauge I am called scar what surprised I speak your language”
says the elite named scar
Artemis notches an arrow and aims at Scar.
“What do you want now -Yoink-. How many times do I have to whoop your -Yoink-? What is this, like the ninth time you’ve tried to kill me?” says Gears.
Scorch laughs and pumps his shotgun.
Gears picks up a boomerang and throws it towards Scar’s feet.
“You missed puny human.”
“-Yoink-! Watch!”
The boomerang comes back and knocks Scar off his feet. Gears rushes up and stabs him in the arm. He then shoots him in the head.
“What was that about who was he gears”
says rook still a little strained
rook looks and sees scars body is gone
“He’s gone”
Gears sits down on a nearby crate. He begins to cry. Artemis comes over to comfort him.
“I’m sorry…”
