It can’t be. I was there when she died.
“The Spartan called Artemis, she was the sniper on my old squad. If she’s down there…”
Flashes back to his squad’s final mission.
The beam flew right by my head. There was a short scream. I looked over to where Artemis had been standing. There was a hole going straight through her helmet.
The flashback ends.
“Is everything all right?” Sam asked.

“Yes, my whole squad was. It happened because of equipment malfunctions. We all had a time-travel unit that allowed us to slow down or speed up time in the nearby area, helped us to dodge bullets, grenades, rockets, plasma. It didn’t always work though…”
Rook remembers the one gears dropped when he was drunk and still has it in his backpack

“I was good with machines, Reaper was an assassin, Blaster used a heavy machine gun, Scorch liked to blow stuff up and was a bit of a pyromaniac, and Artemis was a marksman, so being named after the Greek goddess of archery just fit. Plus she was really hot.”

Steps out of the pelican. Phoenix pulls up all IFF tags on his HUD.
“That’s Artemis’ IFF tag, so either there’s another woman in the armor or…”
As we step outside we are ambushed by the crew being led by gears old team
