The Halo Community is in shambles

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Don’t forget, 343 was simultaneously developing MCC and Halo 5, both of which were massive projects. Imagine porting 5 completely different games to a brand new game system, all with visual and control tweaks, and also developing a brand new IP, all the while having one of the largest companies EVER breathing down your neck to get it out fast in time for holiday season. That must have been the worst job in game development. In many ways, I admire 343 for their dedication to trying to continue this franchise, in many ways I loath them for making a bare minimum effort to complete their games and support them in any meaningful way, or to have the integrity to release something completed. They’ve only released 2 games complete on launch: Halo 4 and Halo CE Anniversary. Their others are missing loads of features, not innovating, have lack of originality or character, and are bland boring generic sci-fi shooters.

The simple answer is money. Always has been.

Us Diehard fans that take it on the chin and continue playing aren’t profitable. We continue playing sure, but we are from a generation that is very highly anti MTX. They don’t stand to profit much from us. And we aren’t going anywhere, so we aren’t a priority.

The whole scheme behind “broader audience” was to attract the Gen Z population and beyond that doesn’t bat an eye at dropping copious amount of cash on MTX.

I agree with just about everything you said, but I don’t believe an apology is worth anything, nor is it necessary. I doesn’t accomplish anything, and chances are we’d just get a scapegoat as well as that individual’s career getting damaged which is an entirely undesirable outcome. A bad call, or someone who’s unfit for a role they were put in does not deserve those potential results. Additionally, the only apologies that’ll ever be delivered are anything that could catch Twitter’s mob justice rage sights i.e the “Bonobo” incident. It’s just a fruitless endeavor if you ask me.

What I want is results. Things such as communication between Devs and the player base, to see feedback FROM THE PLAYER BASE NOT STREAMERS being acted upon, and for 343i to stop with their patented “we know everyone hates this, but we’re doing it anyway” mentality.

The “playerbase” is gamed too, finding genuine people who enjoy playing the game and thinking of improvements is really hard.

Just go on the Halo Discord for 30 minutes and it’s clear it’s artificial people with agendas in parties, not actual players who enjoy playing the game for fun (that’s not to say you can’t have fun interactions with people that are genuine, but it’s clear when tomfoolery is afoot if you’ve been alive for more than 20 minutes).

I haven’t played any Halo and I mean any Halo in literally years. At least 7 years? But I am totally paying attention to this game! My friends and I keep loving Halo Infinite. (See my topic about how I’ve spent more on this game than any other F2P game for reference). I always look forward to Kevinkoolx Halo YouTube news.

Die hard Halo fan? If I could be classified as such, it’s thanks to Infinite.

the short answer is i think 343 cant see they cyberpunked themselves. they live in this middle world between bungie dumb and cdpr dumb.

Players playing games casually and solo are getting stomped anyway
