The Halo Community is in shambles

You can’t blame Microsoft for this one its 343’s fault that they focused on making a hero shooter for a good while only to be forced to scrap it because they were told to make a halo game not a hero shooter

If 343 learned their lesson from 4 they should realize that chasing trends doesn’t work for them and wouldn’t make a hero shooter the next game

And to add insult to injury, Amazon Prime Halo TV show…

Rotten Tomatoes’ Audiece Score; 53%

Yeah. Until then everything halo not-directly made by 343 has been generally pretty good.

But unfortunately it looks like the people making the show’s only source on halo was 343 industries, the company who’s every game is about building up a new plot line just to abandon it in the next, and not you know, playing and loving the games.

Solid points! My reply will probably get hidden because it will be about 343s upper management and i have said it before in related post, but here it goes

I am sure the Devs are doing what they can with what little staff there is. The management of Halo since 4 has been one of the biggest reasons fans both from the original seires to now have stopped playing and even caring about Halo.

The community as a whole time and time again have told 343i what could be done to not only make Halo feel like Halo again, but also bring players back but 343 has yet to apply said feedback. That broader audience has taken priority over everything else. This alone has brought Halo down to the dirt.

So, with that said, if 343 wants to have this game last 10 years, they need to start listening to community.

Max you should be partied up with is 900CSR - platinum 1…presuming you are a 1500CSR Onyx exactly.

Can’t check because your halo tracker is private

Either you’re exaggerating or the algorithm has a teeny weeny pool of players for you to team up with and is there for pulling in a different minority of the halo infinite population. As such - I’d appreciate you unlock your halo tracker because I don’t believe you.

I’m happy to be proven wrong and issue an apology…but all indications suggest this statement isn’t true

Unless of course you’re talking BTB where rank doesn’t matter

What hurts me the most is their marketing. Halo 5 and Infinite especially. Next time you see a dope-a** Halo game ad, just ignore it is my advice. Those are just lies to play on our emotions to get us to drop 3 crisp $20 bills into their dumpster fire of broken dreams. I pre-ordered Infinite on both Xbox One and Steam, only for the game to not work at all on my gaming PC, and for it to run like dog sh*t on my Xbox One S. :frowning:

Oh halo 5’s marketing was full of lies I’m honestly surprised they didn’t get sued for misleading people

At least people werent ripped off in Halo Infinite since its F2P but how can 343 fail over and over and still be supported by MS is beyond me. Im so sick of how MS is treating the Xbox users with sh*t games.

Die Hard Halo Fan Checking in!!! Halo FOREVER!!! Its more than just a game, the lore, books, forums, history etc. Next everyone will be complaining out Madden and Super Mario. HALO IS NOSTALGIA! That my friend is priceless!

Because as long as people keep buying things from the shop in infinite halo is making money. That’s all MS and 343 really care about at the end of the day

The Halo community had wanted to go all fight club on eachother ever since H2 came out. It’s easy to like H2 now, but back in the day it’s marketing was kinda misleading, it ended on a huge cliff hanger, and it’s multiplayer was way different than CE.

People who think the Halo community has ever gotten along just weren’t passing attention, or haven’t been around long enough to know it’s just always been this way.

It was probably best during H3 and the beginning of Reach, but there was still a lot of hazards feelings then too.

In my opinion, I think that was the vocal minority sort of situation. Like, there was still a lot of people playing Halo 3, regardless of opinions on it from the diehards.

That’s not true of Infinite. It’s below both Battlefield 2042 and Halo MCC in terms of concurrent players on PC as of right now when I’m writing this. Infinite’s peak player count is close to 2042, but still below it, and Infinite is free to play. It’s sitting in a pretty miserable 16th place on Xbox’s most played games list as well.

This isn’t just a vocal minority of fans getting upset that the game has changed - this is regular players, people who maybe aren’t super passionate Halo fans, tuning out to Halo Infinite. The Wider Audience that 343 wanted doesn’t care about Halo.

Halo was way more healthy back with 3 and 2. Sure, people were upset about the changes (like Equipment in 3, Dual Wielding in 2), but people still played those games. You could find games easily, and it took years for Halo 3 to be knocked out of it’s top spot on XBLG’s most played games.

When Halo 4 came out, I still think of it as 343 utilizing and building upon the previous games, but when Halo 5 came out that’s when I feel 343 went out on its own path, and that’s also when things really started to mess up, they did manage to Mickey Mouse a lot of things to make them playable, but a lot of stuff was still broken and missing and that has led to Halo Infinite.

Many problems that I experience in Halo Infinite started in Halo 5 and have never been fixed. I think 343 started to believe their own hype, but sadly will never be that good of a game creator.

The primary issue was that they built upon the less (not by much, but player counts speak volumes) well-received spin-off game and didn’t properly, in my opinion, follow up on Halo 3. Halo 4 should never have been about Chief. We had ODST and Reach, and while they were less successful, showed we could have characters other than Chief in the driver’s seat.

I honestly think it’s just management. Management is the primary issue with Halo, because they have a vision of what they want to do that conflicts with what Halo is/was. They wanted the stories to be more complex and with additional layers. They want to do a multi-media empire, when Halo’s strength was that most things were really standalone. Halo Reach-3 don’t require any book knowledge to enjoy or get a clear progression of story events.

Halo 4 and 5 are much more complex, and Infinite itself relies on a number of book storylines to properly tell its story. That’s true of any of 343’s Halo games, really. They all require or lean heavily on book support to try and tell their stories, and they are not easily approachable by players like myself who read some books but primarily play the games.

In terms of multiplayer, it’s pretty clear that management wants the mass appeal of Call of Duty, with less effort to get there. So, they basically just copy whatever is popular, run the Halo paint can over it, and call it a day. I mean, Infinite’s entire movement sandbox is reminiscent of Call of Duty and Apex Legends - basically the two super popular games out at the moment, and weapon play is closer to Call of Duty than it is the classical Halo we know.

Halo 4 was Halo Reach with 5,000+ mods installed.
It didn’t resemble a Halo game and barely played like one as a result.

Halo 5 they continued bumbling around, but made the multiplayer bearable enough to not lose players so quickly.
