The Halo Community is in shambles

I want to start this with a hard truth.

I’m sure at this point 343i is working hard to try and fix infinite but i’m not convinced that’s possible.

The launch of Infinite has done irreparable damage to the Halo Community and The Halo Brand. Nobody and I mean nobody is paying attention to this game except for the die hard Halo fans. The same audience that was ostracized for a “Broader Audience” is still loyal to this game even given the abysmal state.

I think 343 has lost a lot of our trust moving forward and i think that resonates with a lot within the community.

I ask myself:

Why was the game released in this state?

Why is nobody being held accountable for nose-diving one of the greatest franchises in all of gaming?

Why was the dire state of this game not communicated to us openly and honestly?

Most importantly, Why hasn’t 343i apologized?

Between the lies, radio silence and fundamental issues facing this game. US the fans are the ones left out to dry again and again.

This is a franchise a lot of us grew up with. One of the top grossing medias of ALL time. There quite litterally is no broader audience then that. 250k+ players returned to a husk of a game with a complete lack of transparency or even a solid reason for why things are the way they are.

If you tell us things are bad and are gonna be bad for awhile a good portion of us would at the bare minimum understand and respect the transparency.

I realize i’m probably yelling into the void at this point but a mans gotta try.

Yep. Yelling into the void indeed.
I share your frustration - I don’t care about the community as I find it salty and unreasonable. I am sad though that the game is in such a state and wish they’d let it die or give it to a studio that release games in better states.

But you wouldn’t want to see “players get stomped” though?

I see what you did there

Nah man, fair matches are fair. If you live in Australia and can’t get a decent connection that’s not my problem

How do expect the community to support sbmm for people that want it like you when you’re the first one that doesn’t care about others?

Yeah I think an apology would be nice. Don’t hold your breath tho

Explain how matching players closely on skill is a bad thing.

You can’t, because it isn’t. That’s why it is widely used,

Connection is a different issue

Except that’s not whats happening. In theory with a populated population yes matches will be perfectly even.

Right now say i go into BTB.

My SBMM is really high so it’ll put extremely bad/new players on my team and a bunch of average players on their team to even it out.

This is not balance. I could go +30 +40 and still lose because new players arent even close to average players in skill.

SBMM doesnt protect the people it was meant to protect. It makes everyones experience worse.

You have pub stomp groups with teams full of onyx against maybe 2 extremly high onyx players non grouped. It’s not a fair game.

Yeah but that wasn’t a discussion in this particular forum topic was it? Perhaps you should go find my previous posts, read them, then reply in the correct topic so that the discussion can be continued- rather then following me around and bringing up your ridiculous arguments elsewhere?

It’s fairer than letting ping decide

It’s not really offtopic. SBMM is apart of Infinite and a crappy part indeed.

Is it though?

If OpTiC Lucid played BTB he would pretty much be guaranteed to lose under this system. This is one of the only game I’ve ever played that punishes you for being good at it.

Also op if they respond to you saying something about having sbmm giving you laggy matches is a good thing its best to ignore them

Watch as they ignore your point and say its still good

The community is salty, and for good reason. I don’t understand why you say they’re “unreasonable.”

We all want(ed) the same thing: a complete game that works. We can most all agree that we didn’t receive that. We are screaming for news of updates, and we get scraps of information here and there. Wanting clear and concise information as to the direction the game is going, a timeframe as to when we are getting there, and a reason as to why the game was released with the little content we have been given isn’t unreasonable.

Best I can tell is they’re “Priority Zeroing” pretty hard right now and have been for the last six/seven years. If I “Priority Zero’d” as hard as they have been, I’d be fired.

I mean this is the person who thinks laggy matches are a good thing also if they used the word unreasonable that would be so ironic

Ok - I’m going to say this one more time.

SBMM in general is not the problem. What you’re talking about is MMR, CSR and the truskill2 algorithm used specifically in halo infinite.

Like I said in previous forum posts:
1/ these systems need an overhaul.
2/ accuracy decreases as matchmaking pools decrease - therefore the player base needs increasing (presumably) before these changes can be made
