The Halo 5 Trailers are Ridiculous

Really, when I saw the opening cinematic for Halo 5 I almost threw up. Sure it looks really good graphics-wise but seriously not even Master Chief could fly down a mountain and jump into a Phantom and hop onto a Wraith all while going 30-50 mph down a slope. It just seems pointless to me that they made them into super heroes. The Halo series doesn’t need super heroes, it needs Spartans, and Master Chief is enough of a Spartan to keep the series going for years. I just don’t like the direction that 343 is taking on this game and it needs to be fixed in my opinion. I bought Halo 4, what a terrible mistake that was, then I gave the Halo 5 beta a chance and that too was a mistake. I will admit it is better than Halo 4, but let’s be honest, it doesn’t take much to beat Halo 4. The gameplay of the beta for 5 just reminds me of a slightly different Advanced Warfare and I hate all CoD’s since MW3, so this game is not on my list for this year. If I see twitch gameplay and it looks like it shaped up since the beta then sure, I’ll buy a copy, but honestly if the beta reflects anything in the actual game then I want no part in it. Halo used to be the kind of game where it would release a sequel every few years but each sequel had GREAT additions and GREAT modifications. 343 added to it and modified it so much that now I don’t even recognize it as a Halo game. And all of this drama over which spartan dies (Locke or Chief) is just complete -Yoink-. First of all there shouldn’t be a potential replacement for Chief. People play Halo because of Master Chief and the covenant. No one wants to see their video game hero from the early 2000’s die… that’s how you lose customers. No one wants to see the forerunners either. They’re so generic as far as enemies go and they’re just not as fun to fight as the normal Covenant. I just wish they would have stayed on track with Halo 3 which was mostly between the humans/covenant/flood. As annoying to fight as the Flood were, I would prefer them way more than the forerunners. Flood just made the game so much better because it added a kind of horror to the game that can’t be felt when fighting the forerunner. When I fight the knights, I just feel like I’m constantly taking cover then popping back up to shoot it for another few rounds then ducking back down. Not fun. Unless someone can convince me otherwise to buy it, I’m not getting it. Even though I am a big fan of forging… Halo 5’s improvements to forge do not make me want to buy it just for the forge. There are so many flaws and unrealistic features in Halo 5 I just don’t want to waste another 60$+ on a game I am going to regret buying. That’s how I felt with Halo 4.

Can I get a Tl;tr please and thank you.

That’s your opinion, man.

Edited to be more visually pleasing.

On topic. What exactly are you looking for? You’ve rattled off a list of things you don’t like, but what are some things you do like? What are you looking for in a new Halo?

Cool opinion bro.

New spartans = newer things they can do. The opening is not MC but Locke, the newer updated spartan. Second, HALO REACH added the abilities we know to date. To your theory, Bungie ruined Halo. Third, MC isn’t dying. It’s been confirmed yet people still running around like headless chickens crying. Sure prometheans are super annoying and hard to play against but it’s something new! The flood, as awesome and scary as it was, were getting quite tedious. H5 is taking the steps towards making sure Halo will live on with new and exciting stories. As epic and dominant as MC is, I wouldn’t mind a change in pace within the Halo bubble. And to finish this, just be happy your games cost 60$

Edit: For someone who said H4 was bad, it’s your most played Halo. So what gives?

Well, I want the original covenant back. I liked fighting the covenant from Halo 1-3 and Reach, they just felt more like Halo enemies than they do now where they aren’t wearing all their armor and they have completely different weapons now. I just wish the primary enemies were the covenant and the flood. Maybe add the forerunner in as a side enemy that you occasionally deal with, but stick to the covenant. I will admit that the map-making/forging looks great, but that’s not enough to make me buy the game, especially considering that you can no longer join recent players custom games. I also like some of the new weapons, but they really didn’t have to get rid of some of the classic Halo weapons. I also wanna see less focus on abilities and more focus on the original Halo fighting gameplay. I just feel like there’s so much sprinting and jet packing that I would get the same experience when playing Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3, which I hate both so that’s not going to happen. I also wish they brought back focus on custom games like with Halo 3. They had Action Sack which had community games and you could play custom games when your friends weren’t on. I also like competitive matchmaking, but there is always room for both. There is no reason to abandon custom games to completely focus on competition.

This again? obviously what your looking for in halo hasnt been there for quite awhile, so i suggest you go look elsewhere, there plenty of other games that might take your fancy. I for one love the recent halo build up, its actually been really good. i was talking with my friend recently and we were talking about how it feels similur to halo 2 build up, with the ilovebees back then, and now we have the HTT plus the trailers link into htt and the story and arnt just random cool looking things. Also i didnt see anythign wrong with the spartans osirus team zipping about, they are in high tech spartan armour, and the s2s could prity much do that if you ever read th ebooks, so it kinda makes sence and is refreshing to finally see that on screen.

You should be the creative director instead right? Or in fact, you should make an entire halo game.

Yes, there should be new characters and spartans, but I don’t want impervious humans that can fly around and do whatever the hell they please. Even Master Chief had his limitations but by looking at all the trailers, Locke seems like he is an unbeatable opponent and I don’t like that. Halo Reach DID add abilities, but they weren’t completely game changing. I didn’t feel like I needed my abilities to win in Halo Reach, most of the time I played without them, but when I was playing Halo 5 I could barely get a kill unless I used abilities. I’m not saying MC is dying either, but they’re are hinting at the fact that it could happen very soon., whether it be Halo 6 or Halo 7, either way. 343 killing MC would be the equivalent of Nintendo killing Mario. It would just cause chaos and a HUGE decline in sales. Even the slightest possibility of him dying is going to drop sales, I guarantee it. Of everyone I’ve heard on my college campus, so far I have met 2 or 3 people that are going to buy Halo 5 out of about 15-20 people that I’ve talked to about it. They said it looks unappealing and “Not Halo-like”. I feel the same way. I want original Halo back, I don’t want drastic changes like 343 has already added.

Actually I wouldn’t mind doing creative directing. I know a lot of games and I know what works well and what doesn’t. As for coding a full game I don’t know enough to do that, but just because 343 has the experience doesn’t mean they should completely change a franchise to something unrecognizable.

*facepalm
this again!

I am an original Halo fan too. I played Halo CE just as equally as I played Halo 2 and 3. Enjoyed all of them. Still enjoy them to the extent that I can with Halo MCC. But whenever I get put into a Halo 4 match I just lose interest and I stop playing after the game is done (I don’t rage quit just because I didn’t get the game I wanted)

I respect you opinion but your ‘thinking’ is the low percent of the community. A lot of people are on board with 343 and are accepting of changes to better gameplay or story.

most people that are “accepting of the changes” never witnessed real Halo before or never played the first 3 games, either way. And I know part of business is appealing to the newer generations but 343 could have made their own game series for that and kept Bungie’s game the way it was, now it’s just throwing off older gamers like my friends and I.

So you’re saying that super soldiers ( spartans) that have went through human experimentation to make them more capable ability wise than normal humans and said soldiers have saved the human race countless of times aren’t superheroes?

What is the difference between a spartan and captain america? Nothing besides the suit they wear.

“Not even master chief can do” he can do way more than what was shown In that osiris video by himself but because bungie didn’t show him do it that makes him not able to do it?

I’d be careful going down this path. There are many people who have been around since CE that disagree with you. You weren’t elected spokesman and you don’t speak on everyone’s behalf.

Then DONT buy the game. I could talk to you about every single darn one of your points, but we’d be here all night. If you don’t like the look of the game, then get out of here and play MCC. That’s why it exists. It’s clear you despise 343 and miss bungie, but that just leads to ignorance. Halo 5 could possibly be the best halo game to date, but you’d still find a way to hate it because it wasn’t made by Bungie. All this hate does nothing more than drag us all down. We like it, you don’t. All there is too it. Just remember- YOU ruined halo for yourself, 343 did NOT.

Pretty narrow-minded thinking there. I played every Halo, and I for one like what 343 is doing. As i’m sure there are others who agree with me. Just because someone doesn’t share your opinion doesn’t mean they haven’t played a “real” Halo game. This post right here is how to get others not to care for what you say.

When I I saw the opening cinematic I thought: “This is what Spartans are! This is the real representation of them! This is why Master Chief was able to defeat the Covenant single handed!” I feel we’re getting a good representation of what they truly are and why they’re so important.
