You pair up with Captain Price to kill the Diadect. The Diadect survived the nuke and has paired up with the Russians, who still hate us, to unleash nuclear warfare on America. Cortana, regardless of being dead, still frequently slows you down to rant like in the Halo 3 campaign. Gravemind and all the flood kill themselves from mass depression of being ignored. The Covenant are still severely confused as to what happened to their civil war that seemed to just never happen. In the end you kill the Diadect in another quick time event. You finish him off by firing one shot from an incineration cannon at his mothership, destroying it completely.
Now let’s just wrap it up all into a package, throw out some half thought out multiplayer experience, and we have Halo 5!
